2 April 1977. Red Rum, ridden by Tommy Stack, won the Grand National for a record 3rd time at odds of 9-1. He had won the race in 1973 and 1974 and came home 2nd in 1975 and 1976. His win created emotional scenes never seen before at Aintree.

The ACC just had an excellent season, with its premier program Clemson not contributing, but apparently they’re “secret garbage.” • National Championship appearance • Miami by themselves won as many CFP games as the entire 5-bid SEC. • Winning record vs. the SEC (for the second time in the last three years.
