BNXN live IG Asake reached out to me for a collaboration. I’ll be honest I was never a fan of his sound, and I considered turning it down. But I chose to try it anyway, because the idea of working with Asake was something I never saw coming. And I say this respectfully: he was never on my list of working with. The song was intended for his latest album, _M$ney .We had to hold off because his part on the album was already finalized. What surprised me most is Asake himself. I had perceived him as stern, but working with him showed me a completely different side — he’s genuinely cool. Fathers to a son: please read this. We dropped my oldest off at college this week. He is 18. Totally ready to leave the house. Desperate for independence. This is the way it should be. But it has torn me up. Statistically we have spent 90% of all the time we ever will together. I am sad because I know I made a lot of mistakes during this time. Mainly, I was too hard on him because he was the oldest, and he was a boy. I was the oldest, and a son in my family. I repeated some mistakes that were made with me. Even though I was convinced I would do a better job. I spanked him. I used unkind and hurtful words when I thought he fell short. Things that I have learned cause more harm than good. Things I wish I could take back. Basically I was just too damn hard on him. I have learned and (I hope) improved as a father. Which benefits his little sister and brother. I wrote him a long letter before he left. I told him how proud I am of him, tried to give him some words of wisdom, but also apologized for not always being a great dad. I told him I wanted to be the greatest dad in the world, but I didn’t always know how. I explained how I was brought up, and my father was brought up, and that I had brought some stuff along as a dad that I hope he is smart enough to leave behind when he is a dad. I know my grandfather had it ROUGH. My dad had it a bit less ROUGH. I had it by comparison better, and my son did too. However I could have and should have done a better job in my link of this chain of fatherhood. I am confident my son will do better when it is his turn. To the dads out there, especially with your oldest son…try not to be so hard on him. He doesn’t need to feel the weight of all of your expectations of a family lineage, he doesn’t need to be made into a clone of you, he doesn’t have to be made ready to be your “successor”. Watch how you discipline him…think very carefully about what you are trying to do and what the expected results will be. He just needs to be a good man and to be happy. And you need to keep a good relationship with him.

So many people tagged me yesterday about this young man who had made a placard with my name at Archives. Today while I was in the CBD on official duty. I found him still standing at the same spot with the same placard and took time to engage him in a conversation. I asked him why he chose that approach, especially knowing that some people might misunderstand his intentions or view it negatively. He honestly told me that he chose that direction because he understands Kenyans controversy trends fast, and he believed it was the quickest way to get his message to reach me. He clarified that he is a straight young man with a girlfriend and simply wanted an opportunity to speak to me and see how his life could change. When I asked how I could help, he humbly said he only wished for two things: to take him and his girlfriend out for a Valentine’s dinner and, more importantly, to enroll in college to pursue an ICT course and build his future. His honesty and determination touched me. I promised to support his education, and today I took him to ICS College for sponsorship. I’m happy to share that he will now be enrolled and given a chance to pursue his dream in ICT. Sometimes all someone needs is not money, not fame just an opportunity and someone who believes in them.

On the 13th of Sept, someone transferred 180k for an iPhone Xs 256GB. After acknowledging his receipt, he called, and I told him we don't have it but will ask colleagues and let him know. I asked my friend, and he told me 190k. I begged him to leave it at 180k because that is what the guy deposited (check frame 2 for reference). When he sent the phone from Kano to Jos, then I noticed it was an Xs Max. Seeing that the guy was in a hurry and didn't want to disappoint, I called him and told him what happened and said if he wants the Max, he can take it at no additional cost. I was willing to settle the difference because it was his first time buying from us. I packaged it with a new premium charger because all our used phones are sent packaged in our branded box with a charger, and I sent it to him in Abuja. He later messaged that he has received the phone and truly appreciates it. After months of not receiving any complaints from him, it clearly indicates that he has received a fully functioning phone. It is in our policy that if you find anything faulty within one week, you can return it to us and either ask for a replacement or refund. What this means is that the cost of bringing it from Kano to Jos, the packaging and charger, and the delivery to Abuja are all a loss to me. But I didn't mind because at least I have satisfied him. Nine weeks later, while I was in Kano, I saw a call from an unknown number. When I picked up, he said it was him. He told me that the camera has started giving him problems. I told him it has been months since you bought it, but you can take it to any repair store and tell me how much you spent, and I will pay. He asked if I know anyone, and I sent him someone's number. The guy didn't pick; he texted and informed me and later called me. I told him to go to anyone he trusts and let me know the amount he spent. A few days later, I was stranded between Kaduna and Abuja on my trip from Kano to Abuja because my car engine failed. He called, and I didn't pick; I don't even know his number. Later in the night, I received his messages on WhatsApp with a threat that he will make a video to tarnish the image of my business. Someone I was willing to help after months of buying a USED device from me is threatening me. I said he should go ahead because I can't entertain him anymore. In conclusion, a trade that I incurred a loss from is what some people are trying to justify as a scam. The beautiful part is I have made trades with hundreds of people here, and I would love two more people to come out and present a case in which they are still using a device I sold to them that is faulty and they contacted me for a replacement or refund, and I didn't do it instantly. "The hypocrite will always look for faults" - Ghazali. Those that are looking for a fault in me can justify something as woke as this; it doesn't matter. This is my own side and will no longer entertain him anymore. For those that believe in me without hearing from me, thank you so much.

I was surprised by such a fantastic marketing pitch— - for my own book, - from someone who was selling my own PDF book to me for ₹2,500, - a PDF book which I myself had provided to him for free. For a moment, I thought I lacked marketing skills. Then I reminded myself that I chose ethics over selling dreams to innocent traders, because that book alone was not practical without a proper video course. But his conviction and confidence in my book, which he had received just 42 days earlier, was extraordinary. Even I do not have that level of confidence in that book alone. That is why I provided it free with a ₹1,900 course. The way he was proudly sharing it on his Telegram channel and Twitter, along with his UPI ID, payment screenshots, and all public proof that could be used for legal action, made me think he was just an innocent kid who did not know what he was doing. For people coming at me about this I was diagnosed with epilepsy at 19 same year Lehner came to our team. His free story in Athletic helped me to apply his strength to my own life and he became an idol to me as I was in high stress nursing school having full blown seizures in front of classmates. Talking about hockey, podcasting, radio and going to games. And I was a big Lehner fan. He thanked me for getting his jersey that I received from my grandma as they drove me to my neurologist appointment. (I couldn’t drive as that was taken from me as a new epileptic) When my grandmother passed, who was my best friend, Lehner sent me condolences. It was an uphill climb but I haven’t a seizure in years due to medication and still follow this sport which I love. Lehner was a big idol in one of the roughest parts of my life. I now spread epilepsy awareness and even wrote a paper for work for November epilepsy awareness month for the nurses on proper care for epileptic patients. He taught me to speak up and spread awareness rather than feel shame. This video is me having a seizure streaming hockey. I’m not ashamed of it. Let others see what a seizure looks like. (I do not remember talking when the seizure happened)

For people coming at me about this I was diagnosed with epilepsy at 19 same year Lehner came to our team. His free story in Athletic helped me to apply his strength to my own life and he became an idol to me as I was in high stress nursing school having full blown seizures in front of classmates. I was scared, upset and embarrassed. I said in my hospital bed “how can I be a nurse if I can’t even help myself?” I cried. It was a rough time. I found his story and reread it that season. He was standing on an NHL stage with his mental battle. It was inspiring to me. Cheesy, but if he could that, I could be strong too. I also really jumped into something that helped me release stress. “EVERYONE. This man came into my yard a couple of hours ago and offered to cut my grass for a certain price. I didn’t have enough money today to afford that on top of everything else, and I told him to come back in a week. A few minutes ago, I heard a loud noise outside of my house. I opened the door and noticed that he was cutting my grass. I went running out to him and yelled for him to stop... he shook his head no. He told me that he saw my kids playing in the yard and was worried about snakes being in the grass and biting them because the grass was too tall. I again told him to stop because I couldn’t pay him. He said that he didn’t need to be paid, he had grandchildren, and that he hoped someone would look after them in the same way. I was brought to tears. I hugged him. We talked about different struggles we’ve had in life, and he told me that this is what the news doesn’t report. He told me the news doesn’t report the black neighbor helping out the white neighbor because it isn’t good for the network to make money. I told him that he has a good heart. I told him I wish more people on earth were like him. We hugged again. He is still outside cutting my grass, and it’s dark now. I am so grateful to have him as a new friend. His name is Johnny, and he lives in Taylors, South Carolina. He cut my grass for free tonight because he was worried about my children playing outside in the tall grass.
