Conservative Ministers have admitted to Sikh representatives the term “Pro-Khalistan Extremism (PKE)” and a dedicated team in the Home Office to address this has simply been invented to appease the Indian government who are calling for extreme action. The Ministers accept the risk and threat from PKE is virtually non-existent. The term was introduced following a Sikh protester taking down the flag at the Indian High Commission in London on 19 March 2023. The Indian government overreacted and responded by dressing down the British High Commissioner in Delhi and removing security. The Conservatives are trying to reassure and draw a distinction between hundreds of thousands of Khalistan supporters in Britain who they accept are legitimately and democratically campaigning for a Sikh homeland and a handful of individuals who they regard as “extremists” who are Khalistan supporters. But this is not about me —it is about the thousands of people whose lives have been shattered overnight… The Turkish government has wielded emergency decrees to justify mass detentions and dismissals, shattering the lives of countless families. Yet, perhaps no story better illustrates the depth of this tragedy than that of Yusuf Kerim Sayın, a 6-year-old boy who became the heartbreaking symbol of suffering under this regime. Battling bone cancer, Yusuf captured the nation’s attention in a viral video, crying out for his mother, Gülten Sayın, who had been imprisoned for alleged links to the Gülen movement. His only wish was to have his mother by his side during his final moments. After an agonizing public battle, her mother was released under a new law that allowed sentences to be postponed for mothers of critically ill children. But the victory came too late—Yusuf’s body, weakened by both his illness and the cruel separation from his mother, could not hold on. He passed away just a year ago, in October 2023. And as if to pour salt into the wound, just a week after burying her son, the government came for his mother once more, demanding she finish serving her sentence. Yusuf was an innocent child, but he was caught in the ruthless machinery of political repression, one that treats children and their families as mere collateral damage in its pursuit of punishment. His death is not just a personal tragedy — It clearly shows just how far the Turkish government is willing to go to silence and punish its people. What else should I add after this? Despite these blatant violations, Turkey continues to claim adherence to the principles of the ICCPR. On Wednesday and Thursday, October 23rd and 24th, you will listen to the Turkish delegation’s carefully crafted narrative. But I urge you not to be blinded by the beautiful words they will offer. Behind the polished rhetoric lies a cruel reality of widespread repression, arbitrary detentions, and shattered lives. I respectfully ask you not to turn a blind eye to the suffering of the Turkish people. I urge the Committee to call for immediate reforms, including the restoration of judicial independence and the release of prisoners arbitrary sentenced and detained, particularly mothers separated from their children. When I visited Pannu’s village, Khankot in Amritsar district some elderly locals shared that he supposedly lost his mental balance years ago after inhaling carbon monoxide while retrieving something from a motor well. After that, he began claiming he would one day become the President of Uganda and buy all of Kenya! The villagers tried desi remedies, but nothing worked, and eventually, he was taken to Chandigarh for treatment. In Chandigarh, one of Pannu’s classmates told me not to take him seriously, as he’s been struggling with mental health issues for years. According to his friends, people in the diaspora think he’s brave, but in reality, he’s never even raised a stick to a dog. (For the record, I disagree with his friends—no one should harm animals!) Today I met Shri Kuldiep Singh, Security Advisor, Govt of Manipur. The following are the the questions arised and discussion done in his office. The questions and agendas and his answer are: 1. The NIA, in their statement have said that, four Kuki Militant groups are behind the current unrest in Manipur. They are KNA, ZRA, KNF (Nehlun Faction) and UKLF. Out of the 4, two of them are under SoO agreement. The NIA also added that, the Chin Kuki Zo militant groups in Myanmar are funding the militants in Manipur for procuring arms and ammunition which are totally against the agreement. The NIA also added that, they are funding the Manipur based militants to create a separate state of the Chin Kuki Zo people with parts of Manipur, Bangladesh and Burma. In this regard, I urge to you to give details of what steps are talked and what the government is planning to stop this. He replied that, he knows the SoO militants are not following the ground rules. Even at the Khamenlok incident, he said that only 3 cadres are found in their camp. This clearly shows the involvement of the Kuki SoO Militants in the attack. Regarding this I further asked if the SoO agreement can be abrogated or not as they are not following the ground rules. He replied that he has already submitted the factual ground report and it is the decision of the higher authority for abrogation of the SoO agreement with the Kuki SoO Militants and the Indian Government. 2. On 15th August, 2023, many youths were holding and displaying automatic weapons and parading in open ground at Churachandpur District. The Manipur Government had announced for investigation. Please give in details, the progress of the investigation or any recovery of the arms, if made. He replied that the arms were just a replica. But I told him that firing by the Kuki Militants till date is not just a replica and urged to take up necessary actions. 2. In valley areas, recovery of arms and ammunitions are at full swing by holding combing operations and through various check points set up by the Government. Please commence it unbiasedly for confidence to both the hill and valley people alike so that they don’t loose their trust to the Government. He replied that combining operations are being conducted in par in both Hills and the Valley. Arms and ammunitions are being recovered from the Hill areas too. In this regard, I urged him to held press conferences regularly so that the public have knowledge and have full confidence and trust in the functioning of the Government. 3. Please take up necessary steps to stop poppy plantation. It will play a major role to stop the menace of drug, particularly among the youth. I have already met Hon’ble Chief Minister regarding this. He assured to stop it and put an end to it as he has already launched a War on Drug ls campaign. He replied that he will be very happy to destroy all the illegal poppy plantation in Manipur if Hon’ble Chief Minister of Manipur asks him. 4. Yesterday the relaxed curfew in Moreh town was called off as full curfew was imposed as unknown miscreants tried to bulldoze burnt meitei hoses and shops. Please give details of the steps taken up to prevent it so that the people of Manipur know about it and have faith in the Government that the Government is still here to protect its citizens. He replied that there is strict instruction from the Chief Minister to avoid further loss of the Meitei proprties and he has already sent RAF to prevent it and stringent action will be taken up against the miscreants. 5. Persons related to the brutal killing of Hijam Linthoinganbi and Hemjit has been arrested. The Government has assured to recover their bodies or part of them. Please do the needful to accelerate the process so that their last ritual rights can be completed. He replied that search operations are underway and the dead bodies will be recovered very soon.

And despite $12.1 million in federal funds being handed to the band for excavation and forensic analysis, no excavation ever occurred. And yet, the national broadcaster didn’t just echo the myth — they weaponized it against anyone asking for proof and honesty. During the 2025 federal leaders’ debate, Rebel News' own Drea Humphrey asked now former NDP leader Jagmeet Singh a tough, necessary question: why hasn’t he condemned the arson attacks against Christian churches — a wave of hate crimes that followed the unproven Kamloops claim? Rather than answer, Singh smeared Rebel News as purveyors of misinformation — a charge he’s repeated often, never substantiated. But what happened next was even worse. CBC’s Rosemary Barton went on national television and slandered Drea directly, claiming her question was “woven with some truth and some things that weren’t true,” and falsely declared: "Yes, there have been remains of Indigenous children found." That wasn’t commentary. That was state-funded defamation. Barton never apologized. When Drea tried to approach her to correct the record, Barton refused to speak to her. And while the CBC quietly posted a retraction — tucked away in a dusty corner of their “Corrections and Clarifications” page — it violated CBC’s own Journalistic Standards and Practices. Their own policy states that corrections should be made in the same format and audience as the original error. In this case? A national broadcast. Yet the retraction didn’t air.
