20 years ago today we lost a legend #Corrie

@PritaniDan Compare and contrast with todays. No flashy movie shots, no dramatic music. Let the story and the acting do the work. What a difference.

Today it would be set in daytime too stripping the scene of all atmosphere..

Mike you’ve been caught. And for you, the chase is over

Bizarrely, Johnny Briggs had not put his notice in. They chose to kill off Mike while the actor was still happy to keep working and had just a few years prior taken a pay cut to do so! And in the process brought in a load of obnoxious southerners who caused me to quit watching…

He should never have been written out. Johnny did a great job with the storyline but it didn’t justify losing the character. We could have had another 15 years.

Was never a fan of Mike, but he was an absolute legend of Corrie and how poetic that his died in Kens arms. He arch rival over all those years. Corrie good times

Lovely man. Lived in Stourbridge. Used to pop into the Hagley country club from time to time, such a gent.

Wow it feels like yesterday! I think it was right Ken was there at the end after everything they went through I also like the Rita and Emily bit

Flippin heck, @BradleyWalsh gets everywhere doesn’t he? Even back in those days!

@camjmes0 Ken looks the same now

Not my autistic ass recognizing the WWF Hall of Pain playset in the background

Loved the factory when Mike owned it.

He just had to die in Ken's arms his arch nemesis, quite fitting really.

Loved that they brought the longest serving cast members to be there when he passed too. Corrie was always very good at that.

Yes, I liked that too, all three with such a rich history with Mike.

Not watched Corrie in 20 years but did from the 60s until then. Just like Emmerdale Farm.. then that went too. All after Eastenders stories at expense of normality, humour and good acting.

Shows how long it is since I last watched it- I didn’t know he had left! The last episode I watched was the nutty ex of Gail’s driving into the canal !

I don't watch the soaps, not my cup of tea, but I remember this was the big talking point at the time. It got lots of praise for its portrayal of dementia and how it impacts those around the sufferer.

Dang the casting was on point with Johnny Briggs and Bradley Walsh, they really look like they could be related irl

20 years ago?! I genuinely remember it like it was yesterday!

Back in the days when Corrie was worth watching!

That’s some abysmal acting.

The producers need to watch classic Corrie and learn how to do it right

When soaps were proper

Only Ken and Rita still on the street

I loved corrie and then they ruined it

Get that ambulance called. 9999

I remember this episode

@andymcbride1989

Fuckinell. No attempts in them days to restart hearts eh

"I had Dierdre in the back ginnel too Ken! Every time I smell a cigarette I remember"

Shit, I never seen this, what a fucking shame 😢
