The k- drama We Are All Trying Here is a must watch I know some people will watch one episode and call it boring. Because It’s not fast paced. It’s slice of life in the most literal sense people sitting in rooms with their envy, their 20 year old dreams that never launched, their friends who made it while they didn’t. It’s quiet. It’s slow. It lingers on silences. But that’s exactly why it gutted me. Because this show understands the war you don’t talk about. The one where you open Instagram at 2am and feel like a failure. Sneak peek from the lab. Work in progress of the real-time face tracking, via iPhone, Clone v2 cinematic rig. Simple viewport capture, no lighting or shading. Effective expression capture is key for conveying emotions accurately with your Clones. Our new cinematic rig has been constructed with flexibility in mind. We've carefully refined the 52 blend shapes that drive the facial expressions, and the face controls themselves, to achieve a more natural look. We have more iteration cycles to go through before we hit our target but you can already see a great difference from v1. This upgrade opens up a world of possibilities, from high-fidelity dynamic VRMs adaptable to various platforms to virtual production capabilities and V-Tubing with improved face filters. Our goal is simple: To help eliminate technical barriers and provide a more seamless and inclusive utility for all of our community, all while ensuring quality remains at the core of everything we do.

Huge update.. I joined Cognition I’m so incredibly proud of what we built at PromptLayer. Although it feels a little surreal, I know the team is left in amazing hands. I’ll be staying on as an advisor and can’t wait to see where they take it. We started PromptLayer four years ago, and we practically coined the term “prompt engineering”. It always brings to mind places like this abandoned home, where daffodils still rise each spring, even though the house has stood empty for many years. the most beautiful DIY robot build i've ever seen: this guy turned a robot dog into an off-road wheelchair so his dad could go hiking again his dad used to run marathons, but 20 years ago multiple sclerosis put him in a wheelchair. so his son Jake took a Unitree B2-W (an industrial robot with 4 legs and a wheel on each foot) and built a custom seat on top. on flat ground it rolls just like a normal wheelchair. but when it reaches rocks, water, or stairs, each leg can lift and adjust on its own, allowing it to step right over them. getting this to work safely took a while. > the robot was never designed to carry a person (it tipped over many times during testing) > so Jake spent 3 years recalibrating it. he tested it on his friends first, then once it was stable enough his dad finally got to try it. > and after 20 years in a wheelchair, he climbed a hiking trail again. a chair like this could eventually give wheelchair users access to trails, beaches, broken sidewalks, all the places that are still out of reach today. and one dude built it in his garage lol we truly live in a golden age where a single person can create world-changing tech

I’ve used all the recent GenAI video models extensively & here’s my 2¢: 🎬 Runway Gen3 Alpha - best image quality & motion for text-to-video & embedded words. Great at prompt travel changes over the course of 10 sec. And I’m super bullish on how gen3 will evolve, hopefully adopting the features listed below. Kling - best quality for image-to-video with prompt control, like eating food. Great clip extension that accounts for character (ie walking stride) & camera movement (speed & angle), rather than just using final frame. But it’s limited availability & Chinese native language is limiting. Used for Spider-Man video below (via Midjourney). LumaLabs - best for keyframe start & end control (it can not be overstated how important this is. other services should add it ASAP!) and their high dynamic action movements are really fun. Luma was used in my viral Multiverse of Memes video. PikaLabs - they haven’t gotten as much attention as others lately. But they did update their video model a few weeks ago and it looks great. Also, they are notable for their unique & AWESOME features, like video in-painting & out-painting. When I lived in Dallas, I did most of my climbing on an old grain silo. I was a fish out of water. Here’s the uncomfortable truth about where you live: You can build a good life anywhere. I made the best of a concrete jungle for 20 years. BUT You’ll never have a *great* life if you’re swimming against the current. There’s an old saying: “Wherever you go, there you are.” It’s meant to imply that happiness is found within, not from your environment. I beg to differ. It’s both. Environment DOES matter. Living in your happy place CAN make life better. Naval says that the three biggest decisions are: 1) Who you’re with 2) What you do 3) Where you live Here’s what’s odd: Most people are deliberate about the first two. We date around, we explore different careers, and *choose* the partner and job that fits us best. And when it doesn’t work out, we’ll make the hard decision to pivot. But when it comes to place, most people don’t choose anything—they live where they live by default, not by design. The thought of moving conjures our worst fears. So we rationalize staying put. (Ask me how I know.) When I finally moved to Boulder (in my late 40s), everything clicked. A good life became a great life. I still pinch myself. Here’s my advice: 1) Find your happy place. 2) Find a way to (eventually) get there. Living where you want isn’t a birthright, it’s a privilege that is earned over time. It might take years or—as in my case—decades. It’s never easy and there are always complicating factors. But one thing’s for sure: You’ll never get there if you don’t make a choice at all.

(Ask me how I know.) When I finally moved to Boulder (in my late 40s), everything clicked. A good life became a great life. I still pinch myself. Here’s my advice: 1) Find your happy place. 2) Find a way to (eventually) get there. Living where you want isn’t a birthright, it’s a privilege that is earned over time. It might take years or—as in my case—decades. It’s never easy and there are always complicating factors. But one thing’s for sure: You’ll never get there if you don’t make a choice at all.

But my robot is parked at the local high school twice a day. Its cameras see humans in all of our weirdness. How we move. Where we go. Where we walk. Who we talk with. What you are wearing. Whether your hair was combed this morning. That data will lead to robotics breakthroughs. Apple might keep up with its Vision Pro data, but it is too freaked out by the privacy implications of using said data. (On the front are six cameras and a couple of TOF -- Time Of Flight -- sensors that can see everything in your home in great detail). Google has a lot of data, for sure. All my: 1. Email. 2. Calendars. 3. Photos. 4. TV watching behavior. 5. Contacts. 6. Documents and spreadsheets. 7. Files. 8. Location data. So I expect Google's robot will be attractive to many. But how do you see the others shake out over the next five years? Make some guesses. But remember what an AI pioneer told me years ago about AI: it's all about the data. The Chinese ones have huge advantages: the Chinese have more data on their citizens, and many more citizens to boot AND they can make robots cheaper than we can. But now that you know OpenAI is building its own robot you have caught wind of what I've heard from many in San Francisco and Silicon Valley: that humanoid robots are the real prize of AI and will be highly profitable for those that can make them and find customers willing to buy them. Here, too, I learned long ago never to bet against Elon Musk. Will you?

When we went to the public shelter to take this old boy, they warned us: “He’s aggressive.” We took him anyway. He wasn’t aggressive at all. He was terrified of humans. As time passed, the tumour on his side grew larger and larger, until we knew there was no choice—we had to get him surgery somehow. We were scared. He was scared. But thanks to the incredible people who donated about a month ago, Moshu got his chance. Today, his bloodwork is clear. The tumour is gone. And for the first time… he allows Melisa to come close. He may still look afraid, and he may never fully trust people—but he loves being with the other dogs. That’s where he feels safe. That’s where he belongs. The Sabotaging Practice of Over Supply and Sameness in the NFT Space. The current zeitgeist of the NFT space is that the same artists are doing the same kind of work five times a year, with project after project leaving a trail of disappointment and discontent among collectors and all of us watching in disbelief as huge resources are extracted from the space over work that feels like it could be left as an "artist study." I understand that you can do what you want with your money as collectors, but we are killing the whole space with this incestuous practice. No artist is that prolific to be able to do 5 collections of 100+ pieces each every year and actually deliver innovation and some kind of creative evolution. Of course, they can pretend play that the work has something new, but there is no precedent nor proof that that has ever happened in the speed that it happens in the NFT space. Again, people are free to through away their resources on whatever they want but with this way of doing things, we more and more are going to start seeing the consequences. Oh! There are consequences? Yes. Maybe unintended, but there are. Let's see. Let's start with the loss of belief in the NFT space as somewhere where emerging artists can come and find support for their experiments. Why even bother to bring experiments, innovation, and new ways to think of art on the blockchain if the same people have all the collectors hypnotized with their magical flutes? Why even try to come to a space where taking risks and challenging the status quo (the mission of art!!!) is overlooked? This makes the NFT space a social club and not a space for art. I guess it is fine, but IMO it is a recipe for disaster. New collectors stay away because the art will slowly but surely become stale and un-challenging. Why even bother to come and see what is happening here if you can't, as a collector, see new weird and up-and-coming artists? The amount of noise emitted by the same artists doing the same art over and over, drowns out any new voices. Again. A recipe for disaster. The NFT space is becoming a space of disappointment and doubt. We think that collections going to zero one after the other, over and over, is not damaging? I feel we are kidding ourselves. Disappointment piles up, and again, the people who will hurt are the emerging artists, the new blood, the ones who are willing to risk the most and, in return, put fire in this cold space of sameness. I love this space—don't get me wrong—it has changed my life, and I believe it has a ton of potential, but things need to change for it to become a beacon of light in art.
