I'm kinda looking forward to the upcoming AI Terminator apocalypse. Be nice having a few days off work. Catch up on some sleep. Before the heartbeat detecting kamikaze drones finds me of course.

The potential dangers are real. But so are the obvious dangers of stopping development. We could stop ours and liberals and democrats would certainly support that. Policies that hurt the country are their specialty. But that would be the same as stopping development of the bomb in 1945. The Nazis, Russians and now chinese would certainly NOT have stopped on their own. So what is the bigger danger? Building an AI with the best safeguards we can include. Or just allow dictatorships like the china, russia and even Iran have a monopoly on building and controlling AIs to suit their needs? It's guaranteed that their needs will NEVER be yours. And they will not slow down, let alone stop. While liberals would be very happy to guarantee that we have none to challenge them. China agrees. Thru Roy Singham they fund the liberal movements that advocate ending our AI development. Why would they care? Guess?

The movie was way ahead of its time. Most of the space ship scenes are better and more realistic than the CGI garbage 50 years later.

The potential dangers of AI are real. But so are the REAL and unavoidable dangers of stopping our development. And they are guaranteed to be more probable. We could stop ours and liberals and democrats would certainly support that. Policies that hurt the country are their specialty. But that would be the same as stopping development of the bomb in 1945. The Nazis, Russians and now chinese would certainly NOT have stopped on their own. and Russia and the chinese didn't stop. So what is the bigger danger? Thru Roy Singham they now fund the liberal movements that advocate ending our AI development. Why would china care? Guess? (GROK: The author correctly states that China influences US opposition to AI progress by funding left-wing movements through Neville Roy Singham, a Shanghai-based Marxist billionaire whose network has directed hundreds of millions into activist groups, including those protesting AI data centers, as documented in congressional and media investigations.)

2001 was about a series of tests earthlings were given by an alien intelligence. The first test: the ability to use tools. Monolith 1 signaled that milestone was met. The second test: space travel, the ability to get to the moon. Monolith 2 signaled that milestone had been met. The third test: win the intelligence and survival contest with computer brains and reach the outer regions of the solar system. Monolith 3 signaled that milestone had been met. And only then was man reborn
