2004 vs 2026

It's jawdropping to me how the 2004 version still looks great to this day.

2004 was immensely better. Raw, brutal, and worldly. 2026: cutesy, playful and bright. Just like every other media product, you take something your betters built and ruin it to fit your sensibilities.

WTF! This isn’t even a flex. 20 years and there is just a slight improvement? This is terrible! Look at tomb raider 1996 - 2026.. This is the leap in quality we should see, not the incremental changes you just showed. What the hell is going on in the gaming industry? Y’all bitch about Ai but developers aren’t delivering the quality. Ai can actually generate photorealistic games which is what we should have by now. Ai is gonna take all your jobs because you can’t deliver.

#1 looks battle worn, rugged, not to be fucking trifled. #2 does not.

The new one is really great. But I still prefer the original. By far. The tone was very, very different. Visually, auditorily, substance.

You can litterally see the AI Frame generation in the newer video and how it burbles around the face and nose as the head turns. DISGUSTING. DO BETTER!

The subsurface scattering is missing in the newer version, making the skin look more uniform and “plastic.”

Why does the original look and feel so much better? I mean...the eyes 👀 alone..wrinkles/crows feet..the facial expressions..the OG he looks seasoned...is this supposed to be an "own" or something? I'm actually confused TBH...the OG is esthetically better or am I crazy?
