Unlikely to have been a former fighter pilot. There was a similar incident with a B-52 as well where the pilot attempted a steep banking turn very close to the ground. That pilot had been flagged earlier too for reckless flying.

In air shows, pilots push their machines to their limits, sometimes exceeding them. Physics is unforgiving; even slight deviations from stall speed or banking angles can cause catastrophic crashes. At low altitudes, errors are fatal.

32 years ago today - The (in)famous Fairchild B-52 crash June 24 1994: a USAF B-52 crashes in Fairchild AFB (Washington, US). All 4 crew members die. Practicing aerobatics, the bomber stalled at low height. Inquiry noted the pilot´s behavior/personality and his superior’s lack of reaction to earlier incidents, becoming a case study for CRM. The accident occurred as the B-52's pilot, Lieutenant Colonel Arthur "Bud" Holland, maneuvered the bomber beyond its operational limits and lost control. The aircraft stalled, fell to the ground, and exploded, killing Holland and the other three crew aboard. The crash was captured on video and was shown repeatedly on news broadcasts throughout the world. This fatal accident was preceded by several other incidents, including one where the Holland missed a ridge by some 30 ft during a fly-by. A later enquiry focused on military leadership, due to several incidents that preceded the crash, along with CRM – Crew Resource Management. NOTAM issued for airspace around El Paso starting at 0630 this morning FOR 10 DAYS, which is highly unusual (the pilot here seems to agree). Much of the region is on the southern border and also contains Holloman AFB, White Sands Missile Range (Army), and Ft. Bliss. The official reason given on the FAA's site is "national defense" and is the first time since 9/11 a major American air space has been closed like this for a period this long. Thanks to Simon Jordan for always telling it how it is. As for Ade Oladipo laughing & his "protect yourself at all times", how do these low level pundits even get air time? Illegal shots like that can do some serious damage. Don't talk on matters you know nothing about! I would show highlights of me schooling this fanboy's idol, but for some reason that fight's been hidden away 🤷‍♂️

Some more insight to the callsign SAM47, it refers to the 47th POTUS. Anywhere the POTUS flys, there is at least one backup jet that carries the callsign SAM (Special Air Mission) and then the whatever number the President is shadowing them. For Biden, it was SAM46, for Trump it was SAM45, and for Obama it was SAM44, etc. The POTUS will travel onboard the C-32A (Boeing 757) as well as the VC-25 (Boeing 747). I wanted to share some video of the C-32A picking up Obama in Chicago before the inauguration for a NatGeo special on AF1. It gives you some unique insight into this USAF squadron that is tasked with flying not only the POTUS, but various heads of state and politicians. You’ll see in the video the communications station on the C-32A which is rare to see. This aircraft is capable of a variety of communication abilities from phone calls to connecting the POTUS to the National Command Authority and launching nuclear weapons. There are other aircraft that are involved during POTUS travel and they do a pretty good job of hiding. 😎

“My daughter was a real hero.” Carol Acevedo, the mother of fallen U.S. Army Staff Sgt. Angel Rampersad, delivered emotional remarks during her daughter's funeral in New York, as loved ones gathered to honor the 28-year-old soldier. This was such a close call that all simulations on it resulted in a crash [and would have likely been one of the worst in history had it been so] August 9 1978: Olympic Airways Flight 411, a B-747 with 418 aboard, had a near miss over Athens (Greece). Due to crew actions on takeoff, engine thrust was reduced drastically. The jet lost significant altitude and speed: it flew as low as 153 ft and at a speed of 158 kts before the crew recovered. Boeing inquiry stated the jet lost power after crew mistakenly turned off the engine´s water injection system, reducing thrust, which led to a loss of altitude and speed that put the plane near an irrecoverable stall. To get an idea of how close this came to a major disaster (a 747 loaded with fuel going down in a major city), all of Boeing´s simulations of the scenarios presented in the flight resulted in a crash. The previous leg of the journey had been from Andrews AFB (KADW) to Riga, which led to information from Louis David that he had observed a number of diplomatic vehicles and the C-17 parked at Riga earlier, alongside what we later identified as a C-40 which had also flown from Andrews to Riga as "REACH790". Now footage has emerged on Telegram from Moscow showing a US diplomatic convoy travelling with police escort from the direction of the airport. At present, Russia is denying any knowledge of a US aircraft visiting the country, and the US themselves have not commented. On September 6, the Prime Air (Air 21) Boeing 767 cargo plane ran off the runway at Miami International Airport, hit several vehicles and caught fire. The airport grounded all flights. The crash happened right beside Tesla's Miami staging lot, full of Cybertrucks, Model Ys and Robotaxi vehicles, including new Cybercabs shipped in for the local fleet. The YA-9 hit around 520 mph top speed with its Lycoming engines and showed strong strafing accuracy thanks to side-force controls. On January 18, 1973 the Air Force picked the YA-10 design which became the legendary A-10 Warthog. The two YA-9 prototypes later went to NASA for testing. 🫡

Cerritos mid-air collision was 40 years ago: 82 died in a crash that led to landmark changes in the USA´s ATC systems August 31 1986: On approach to LAX airport, Aeroméxico Flight 498 (a DC-9) collides with a private Piper PA-28. The Piper struck the DC-9 through the tail section, killing all aboard instantly. With its tail torn off, the irrecoverably out-of-control airliner rolled and plunged into a Cerritos neighborhood. It exploded on impact, killing everyone aboard, along with 15 on the ground. The PA-28 then spun harmlessly into an empty playground. The inquiry determined the Piper entered Los Angeles’ Terminal Control Area without clearance. The aircraft lacked a Mode C transponder, LAX had no automatic warning system for such a breach, and neither crew appears to have seen the other in time; No fault was found with the DC-9 or the actions of its crew. The accident prompted the FAA to require TCAS - Traffic Collision Avoidance System - on large commercial jets and Mode C transponders on light aircraft operating in busy airspace such as LAX. Attended the Combined Graduation Parade at the AirForce Academy , Dindigul. I went more to relive the nostalgia of having gone with my parents to see my own brother , Chama Vinod Kumar , passing out as a young Air Force fighter pilot in 1979 , when I was only 11 years old. He passed away in a MIG21 fighter aircraft crash in November 1983. H’ble Union Defence minister Sri Rajnath Singh took the salute and addressed the gathering. Saw the wonderful parade and march past of the cadets followed by the nerve racking air show by Helicopter , Sukoi 30 and Surya Kiran squad . Met Air chief marshal Sri AP Singh and ex air chief marshals Sri Vivek Chaudhari and Sri Browne . All in all , it was a great nostalgic experience for me to relive this after 47 years and felt tears welling out thinking of my brother !
