But the more time I spend around large brands the more insane I think it is that they are excluding people who haven't bought from the brand in years from seeing ads. CUSTOMERS DON'T BELONG TO YOU. You aren't as SAAS business. They have no ongoing obligation to purchase. They must be sold over and over again. And your next most incremental ad impression is likely to one of those people you are currently excluding. Additionally, at some point the marginal acquisition of the next customer on your current offer is NOT PROFITABLE. I feel complicit in this problem we pushed aMER and cohort modeling etc. and it can still be very useful. But I think we have swung the pendulum too far and it is time to recalibrate.
