29-year-old Marc Bolan was killed instantly when the car driven by his girlfriend, Gloria Jones, left the road and hit a tree in London on this day in 1977. Jones broke her jaw in the accident. Watching Marc Bolan's moves on stage, I'm pretty sure that Robert Plant and Jimmy Page stole or mimicked several of Marc's moves.

So young at 29. It would have been interesting to have seen which direction Marc would have gone. Glam rock was well and truly dead (Bowie had long since moved on to his next character).
