K-Pop and anti-Black Racism: Lee Gi-kwang (famous K-Pop artist) doing blackface. I believe this video was aired in 2015 on South Korean live TV. In the video, famous K-Pop artist Lee Gi-kwang, a member of the boy group 'Beast,' is doing black face and also performs black caricatural acts such as eating a watermelon. K-Pop, and pop in general (and practically many other well-known music genres), is heavily inspired by African American music and culture. It's so disrespectful--on par with spitting on someone's face and slapping them--to be a K-Pop artist and doing blackface. Their revenue practically comes from the cultural appropriation of African American culture in which they give no credit to. I don't know how this person still has fans, nor even has a career still. It's so disheartening to see. I am sure many of you have also seen former NCT member Mark Lee also proudly wearing a shirt with the Confederate flag on it. His main discography is quite literally rap 😭, and he was born in Canada no less. It's crazy how people excuse their disgusting racism with statements such as "they didn't know" or "they had no choice." Bruh if they didn't know then why is it so funny? The punchline is racism, particularly against black people. Like, do they not know how it feels to be discriminated against for genetic traits they had no decision in choosing at birth? It's human decency 101 this is unforgivable.

I'll be honest, many k-pop artists are still obsessed with lip syncing, look at Jennie, her live vocals are so good, she's dancing while singing, why aren't all the idiots praising her? k-pop fans pick up on Jennie's talent every second, while their favorites can't even do half of what she can do, this woman practices 50 minutes of breathing exercises before her coachella stage without a break, she commands a stage with at least 120,000 people in a day, she practices and designs her own stage with her own talent and genius Many k-pop artists show off simple dance moves, or make mistakes sometimes and lip sync the whole time but k-pop fans keep quiet about those things. while they watch Jennie's clips and catch every mistake with her, even if the dance stops for 5 seconds they will find it, so why do they find it, it's only for a few seconds, how many times do they have to stare at the screen to find the second she makes a mistake? look who's obsessed with Jennie, I'm not sure if the rest of K-pop is not interesting or because Jennie is too popular that everyone only cares about her

JADE discusses the importance of female solidarity in the music industry: “I think you can’t have been in a girl group and not be a girls’ girl. But I think there has been an [improvement] in the music industry. When I [started] in Little Mix years ago, it did feel like there was a bit more of a competitive pressure – like, ‘Only so many of you can make it’. Society always pushes women to compare each other. But I do feel like there’s been a shift. What’s been really amazing for me as a solo artist is seeing firsthand just how wonderful other female artists are at supporting each other. Lily Allen, PinkPantheress, Florence [Welch] have been so, so supportive, and that’s meant everything to me and really has kept me going at times. I think there’s a lot of power in female artists coming together, and that’s why I think pop music is having such a huge resurgence – especially the female pop artists – because they’re all smashing it and doing it together.”
