Security footage showed the couple distracted—the father on his phone—while the child grabbed the legally registered firearm, firing two shots that hit Monteiro’s arm and chest; she collapsed after trying to stand, and despite being rushed to a hospital, she died. The father, a 56-year-old producer, was questioned, released, and faces charges of culpable homicide and negligent firearm storage; the pistol, a magazine with 18 rounds, and two spent shells were seized. The child, unharmed, remains with family under Conselho Tutelar oversight as the investigation continues.
