3. It gets worse. Inside the laptop were personal files, documents, and data from the previous owner. He didn’t buy a “refurbished” laptop. He bought a new one, or so Amazon claimed. This is nothing short of cheating. Amazon India Amazon Help

A student from a middle-class family, poured his lifetime savings, ₹77,787 to buy a laptop from @amazonIN . What should’ve been a proud, joyful moment turned into a nightmare. This thread will make your blood boil.👇

1. On 11th May 2025, he placed an order for a brand-new laptop on Amazon, worth ₹77,787, a massive amount for a student from a middle-class background. The laptop was delivered on 13th May.

2.The moment he opened the laptop, shock hit him. Instead of prompting a new setup, it auto-logged into an existing user profile, meaning the laptop was ALREADY USED. No password, no fresh start, just someone else's digital leftovers.

4. To top it off, the physical condition was also poor. There was a visible disorientation between the top and bottom parts of the laptop, clearly not a new product. And NO, this wasn’t an “Open Box” delivery. This was tampered trash sold as new.

5. He immediately reached out to @amazonIN customer care on 14th May. Guess what he heard(see next Tweet)?

6. "These things happen." Seriously, @AmazonHelp ? Is this is your response to a student who trusted you with his savings and received a used, damaged machine? @AmazonHelp

7. Just imagine: You’re a student. You invest your life’s savings for a new laptop. You get an old, damaged one. And then you’re treated like you did something wrong. This isn’t just bad service, it’s emotional and financial exploitation. Shame on you, @amazonIN. Instead of helping, Amazon harassed him further. Endless calls. No resolution. Cold replies. And finally, a slap in the face: “Checks performed. Not eligible for refund.” What checks? What justice? What customer service? @amazonIN

8.His name is @subhash23111996 — now look closely at his conversations with Amazon. The sheer apathy and gaslighting he faced will show you how mentally exhausting and traumatic this ordeal has been for him @amazonIN @amazon @AmazonHelp @AmazonNews_IN

9. I demand immediate action from @amazonIN and @AmazonHelp. Contact @subhash23111996 without delay, check the complete details and arrange the product return, and process his refund. If this is ignored, be ready to face a formal complaint in the consumer forum.

10.Take a look at just a few snapshots of the mess Amazon customers are dealing with. And remember , this is just the tip of the iceberg. The real scale of negligence and exploitation of E Commerce companies runs much deeper.

13.Look at the snapshot of the bill on this laptop box, it still has the name of the previous customer. @amazonIN accepted a return from previous customer and shamelessly shipped the same item to another buyer(Subhash) without even bothering to change the invoice. What kind of careless, irresponsible service is this? @AmazonHelp

14. Now @AmazonHelp is acting like a mindless 360° robot. First, they shoot off an automated email claiming the “investigation is complete.” Let’s be clear — this was NOT an open-box delivery. In their so-called investigation, they simply say the box was delivered. That’s it. No mention of whether the box was opened, or if the customer accepted the laptop’s physical condition. The reality? The issue only became visible after opening the box. Now @AmazonHelp hides behind the excuse that the box was “intact,” so they can’t help. Dear @AmazonHelp — don’t pretend you can’t comprehend basic logic. You’re not illiterate. Check the facts, investigate the actual issue, and stop giving copy-paste replies.
