30 years ago, michael jackson released ‘they don’t care about us’

And the prisión versión was a powerful message too... Decades later, they still don't care:

30 years of MJ’s "they don’t care about us" and most people don’t even know there are 2 videos. the prison version is the real hidden gem; it was censored so hard it almost vanished cuz michael went too hard on the system. absolute legend ⛓️🔥 you knew?

He should still be here today 👑

30 years later and this track still hits like a wake-up call. MJ was untouchable they still don’t care about us... but the music lives forever. Legend.

We were dancing to his pain 😭

And the drug lord made sure he was safe while filming

The best part of this is that the brazillian gov wouldnt let him film because of safety concerns, so a local drug lord who was a huge fan guaranteed his safety and he just filmed in the streets. Absolutely epic

I still listen to this banger with and I get the message

Did MJ just griddy 30 years ago?

. ...And it still feels like the world is catching up to what he was saying 😭

Evergreen and they still don’t care about us after 30 years ☹️

The media turning on Michael and throwing dirt on his name for false allegations made his music darker in the 90s… we got songs like ‘They Don’t Care About Us’ ‘tabloid Junkie’ ‘stranger In Moscow’ ‘This Time Around’ etc because of how bad the media did him in the tabloids

The local Drug Lord loved him and respected him so much he kept the city in line when Micheal showed up to record the video. There’s absolutely no one on this man’s level!

If you know you know ❤️

One of his best songs that doesn’t get talked about enough

@HaaftenRenate just got the shirt!

The legend

My millennial ass seeing this

Did you know Olodum on the shirt Michael wore is via Ifa divination. He wore this with solidarity with them 🙌🏽❤️👏🏽

The drug lore they ran that area allowed Michael Jackson to shoot the video there cause he loved his music, yeah no other artist is fucking with Michael Jackson

he spoke about unity, kindness, caring for the planet, and saying about that those in charge don't give a damn about people. said people in charge hated him for it. they smeared his name and sadly it ultimately led to his death. the world is a far worse place since he left

And they still don’t care

Michael Jackson had a gift…he could pass a message through music and make you feel every word.

every time I see something about Micheal Jackson I think about how I was 11 years old, sitting on the porch crying my eyes out when he died lmao woulda thought he was cousin or sum 😭

@BullsRatedR Filmed on location in one of the most dangerous and violent places on planet Earth. "With Michael Jackson here, this slum will be the safest place in the world. You can leave $1 million out in the streets... And not one soul will so much as touch it."~ Marcinho VP

The best ever

"30 years ago MJ rolled up to a Brazilian favela, got a drug lord to personally guarantee his safety (‘this slum will be the safest place on Earth’), and dropped the most unfiltered ‘they still don’t care about us’ video ever… Meanwhile every other artist today needs 47 brand deals and a safe space just to drop a lukewarm single. Goat behavior. Period.

So Michael jackson is also a activists too, with his lyrics ,what a legends ,,the new Michael movie isbour

No one will ever compare to him.. not Beyonce nobody!!

Man we will never see a great artist like MJ…it’s really no debate at all
