30 years later and "Clear and Present Danger" remains unmatched. No capeshit. No quips. Just Ford in glasses, moral clarity, and explosions that actually meant something. This is what competence porn looked like before we got addicted to slop. 🎬📺 Clear And Present Danger🔥

The caravan ambush scene alone has more tension and weight than the last five years of $200M blockbuster CGI fests

The final ambush sequence is pure adrenaline. Hollywood forgot how to film real stakes like this.

Harrison Ford demanding the "real files" on his computer while the CIA tried to delete them remotely is peak cinema. No green screen nonsense, just bureaucratic tension and an ambush scene in Colombia that still clears modern action movies. They don't make them like this anymore.

That "delete the files NOW" race and the brutal ambush feel so raw and real. No quips, no CGI overload, just pure tension. Peak 90s Clancy cinema.

Couldn’t agree more. Clear and Present Danger is peak 90s thriller craftsmanship tight plotting, action that actually serves the story instead of replacing it

Modern thrillers wish they had the balls this movie did calling out CIA/White House shady ops in the 90s.

Hell yeah. That jungle ambush and the way they handled the whole op still hits different after all these years. No dumb jokes, no shaky cam nonsense just serious men doing serious work with real stakes. Harrison Ford’s Jack Ryan felt like a guy who actually read the briefing files.

@cinema1305 Agreed! That jungle ambush is still one of the most tense, well-shot sequences ever. No quips, no shaky cam, just serious professionals doing serious work. Feels like a lost art these days.

Clear and Present Danger is peak 90s thriller craftsmanship tight plotting, action that actually serves the story instead of replacing it!

The helicopter chase alone is worth the runtime. Pure 90s action cinema glory.

It works because it is faithful to the book. You take that crap on Prime Without Remorse it goes from Kelly getting revenge on drug dealers in B’more to whatever POS it became.

This is quite a take with some unique punchlines. 🤦

Such as?

Willem Dafoe played CIA agent John Clark who was calling the strike. He made famous the OA93, one of the first pistol variant ARs.

The casting choice for John Clarke is the only blemish here.

Yeah, Dafoe as Clark always felt a little off. Great actor, but he just didn’t have that quiet operator vibe from the books. Still love the movie though.

"competence porn"

Absolutely agree. Clear and Present Danger is peak ‘competence porn’ done right. Harrison Ford’s Jack Ryan feels like a real guy in impossible situations , no quips, no capes, just quiet moral steel and brutal consequences. Those jungle sequences and the way it shows the machinery of power still hit harder than most modern thrillers. Timeless.

That scene where Jack Ryan just walks into the hearing room with his folder and starts dropping truth bombs? No superhero landing, no one-liners. Just a regular dude doing the right thing. Hits different every time. We need more of that.

Awesome Trump is doing this in real time. He must have loved this movie!

He must be getting inspired from the movie

Absolutely I just love seeing those drug boats get obliterated.

The moral weight, those brutal jungle sequences, and the sheer competence on display… Hollywood doesn’t make them like this anymore

Clear and Present Danger understood the 'competent man in an incompetent system' trope perfectly.

Agreed. Still the gold standard for smart, grounded thrillers. Ford’s quiet intensity and those tense op sequences hit different…

Harrison Ford flying that helicopter while dodging missiles? Cinema. Every action hero since has been trying to catch that energy.

Love Willem Dafoe. He was comically miscast as Clark.

I thought he was the misfit among the cast crew

Is that Tuco painting the target? Didn’t know he did military service before being a drug kingpin

I didn't hear the punchline bro 😂😂

One of my favorite films of all time. So rewatchable. The military stuff. The score. The acting. The suspense. The pacing. Sooooo good.

Totally agree! That movie just hits different every rewatch. Harrison Ford as Jack Ryan feels like a real guy doing his job, not some invincible superhero. The tension and those practical action scenes are chef’s kiss.

One of my favorite quotes (scene). “The chicken is in the pot.” “Cook it”

It's sad that they've ruined just about every Tom Clancy film since then.

where the good guys actually had a plan and the explosions looked like they cost real money.

One of the smartest, tightest political action films ever made. Deserves more love.

CLASSIC

I haven’t checked this

A perfect movie to watch on a Thursday

What's special on Thursday?

It still pulled its punches by making righteous retaliation against the cartels an evil overreaction that hurt innocent families. The actual evil of the cartels is limited to a couple murders. Meanwhile its intel head wants to be controlled opposition under US state direction. There is a ton of anti-American smear in the movie, is the point.

So much vital take from you though

Wow, this is an intense movie, survival horror like this keeps you on edge every single episode

Still can quote the entire 'clear and present danger' Senate testimony speech. This movie raised me.

Harrison Ford delivers pure, serious competence-driven action 🎬

Ford’s quiet intensity in the briefing rooms > every loud explosion in modern action.

Since this movie came out, every time I read a Jack Ryan story I picture his as Harrison Form and John Clark as William Dafoe. Great movie, better books. Thank you Tom Clancy.

Totally agree! Harrison Ford is Jack Ryan in my brain forever, that voice and stare just locked in. Same with Dafoe as Clark. Movie slaps, but the books hit different. Clancy was a legend.

You have to watch this one a couple times

Nobody knows how I've used movies like this to learn how to shoot gun!😂

Really! I don't know that's what happened

Yeah

💯🔥 That’s a solid throwback, pure serious action, no gimmicks, just tight storytelling and intensity.

Harrison Ford just owned that role—quiet intensity, no dumb jokes, and those stakes actually felt real. Miss movies like this that respect your attention.

One of my favorite movies

Not a bad choice mate

this is good war fare movie

We both know there are American soldiers in Colombia fighting an illegal war...

It's always illegal but this is just a movie

That was a quote from the movie bro 😂

Fav movie

Of course clear and present danger was clear of many movies out there

The way this movie makes you paranoid about your own government… prophetic in 2026.
