Today, we released Gemini 3.5 Live Translate, our latest audio model for live speech-to-speech translation. It supports over 70 languages and starts translating as soon as you start talking, streaming translations while listening to what you say next. No awkward pauses or choppy audio, just real connection without language barriers. So, how does it work? 🤔 The model is able to make split-second decisions to juggle speed and translation quality so conversations actually feel fluid, human, and natural. In order to do this, the model must receive and contextualize the input while simultaneously outputting the translated speech. Through this process, Gemini 3.5 Live Translate manages to stay mere seconds behind each speaker and can even maintain pacing, pitch, and intonation across extended sessions. Language skills are so underrated - content creators can double and triple their audience if they can easily convert their content into multiple languages and post on different platforms. With Pika MCP you can easily do that. Here's me speaking 4 different languages with one video as input, and the final comparison video was edited with Claude Fable in natural language: Pika MCP + Claude Fable > such a power combo!

The new live translator model is really outstanding - it can translate synchronously without getting confused. This video is just my screen recording with no editing. I built a little chrome extension that can hook into a YouTube video and translate it automatically live to lots of different languages - I love this. Link to github below, you'll need to add your own API key to it.

Today we released Meta Spirit LM — our first open source multimodal language model that freely mixes text and speech. Many existing AI voice experiences today use ASR to techniques to process speech before synthesizing with an LLM to generate text — but these approaches compromise the expressive aspects of speech. Using phonetic, pitch and tone tokens, Spirit LM models can overcome these limitations for both inputs and outputs to generate more natural sounding speech while also learning new tasks across ASR, TTS and speech classification. We hope that sharing this work will enable the research community to further new approaches for text and speech integration.
