According to Bob and Suzanne Pleshette, this show idea began with his wife Ginny. She said, 'You ought to end in a dream sequence because there was so much inexplicable about the show.' You should wake up in bed with Susie. I said , 'What a great idea,' and I gave the idea to the writers and they fleshed it out." The audience reaction is real. Suzanne was kept hidden until the scene was shot.

The detective is in. All episodes of #CrossOnPrime are NOW STREAMING on @PrimeVideo.

I watched the old Bob Newhart Show as a kid and was familiar with the characters. By the late 80’s, I had forgotten all about it, until this episode. This is, IMO, the absolute best ending ever.

This reigned as the greatest series finale of all time…until Mad Men’s in 2015.

I forgot how it ended

Hi I m Larry, this is my brother Darryl and this is my other brother Darryl! Ewwwww! Michael!

If you were a kid in the 80’s/90’s who had never seen or heard of The Bob Newhart Show, this was the most baffling sitcom ending ever.

I never saw an episode of TBNS until maybe the 90's.

Susan Plessette was a class act. She declined to attend the after party so as not to draw attention away from Mary Fran. Great series, something else that couldn’t be made today

I wish this clip had gone on a few seconds longer because when it originally aired in 1990 it ended with the "Bob Newhart Show" theme instead of the one from "Newhart."

I remember screaming when I saw the bed from the original Bob Newhart show. It was a perfect ending to Newhart. Bob Newhart was a comic genius.
