AE has been lagging in 3d capabilities for quite some time. A big part of the problem is that you can't really fly around in a 3d space - something that real 3d programs offer.

Combining 2D and 3D in After Effects. In Foldspace, not every surface needs to be bent. Keep one flat for 2D artwork, and let the others exist in 3D space. This allows you to combine 2D and 3D objects in a single animation with no masks or tricks needed.

shader effects for 3d gaussian splats are a fun way to add reality bending effects to your 3d scans. made using sparkjs which is an open source 3dgs renderer for threejs.

Here's an example of what you can create with Foldspace! Foldspace is a new plugin for #AfterEffects that enables artists to create, edit, and animate curved 3D surfaces. It's still a work in progress. #motiondesign #animation #WIP

🚀3D GenAI is getting much better! 🤔3D generation now matches 3D printing in geometry, but color quantization remains a big issue: printers struggle with complex colors, and generators struggle with pure colors. 💪Rodin will solve this in the future.

Working on a 3d purchase visual. It converts 2d asset images from our live trending-sales wall into 3d models during runtime There's some extra effects with tweening & tilting that I show at the end - excited to start testing this in production Clip It #RobloxDev
