I’m a huge fan of your work!! 💖 Could you tell us about your journey learning Blender? What courses did you take, or how did you get started? I’d love to be able to create models like yours someday!

Thank you 🥺💖 I didn’t take any courses! I first started out customising models in VRoid Studio, which is where I build up a foundation in modelling hair (albeit the method being quite different from how it’s done in Blender, but being used to thinking of hairstyles in 3D space is helpful) & got used to texturing 3D models first in VRoid! Gradually I wanted to overcome the limitations of VRoid models, so I searched for tutorials on YouTube and first learned how to make a tail and simple shirt from watching @/Kana_Fuyuko’s tutorial where she used a VRoid model to explain. I watched the tutorial once, then on the second watch, I did it along with the tutorial! That’s how I slowly learned and I also watched a lot of speed making by other 3D modellers like @/Shonzo_ and @/mokunachoi on their YouTube channels, I often slow down the video at very specific parts to learn how they did something! Iirc Shonzo also has a video explaining the best way to learn 3D modelling and it happened to be precisely the way I taught myself! Sorry for the word vomit but I hope this helps!!

Thank you! I recommend just making small objects that you like, could be a flower, ribbon or anything by following a tutorial instead of plunging head first into a whole character! Making multiple small things will help build your familiarity with Blender first so that when you do attempt a character model later, the workflow and shortcuts wouldn’t be too confusing for you ^^ I also recommend watching speed making videos by other 3D modellers like @/Shonzo_ and @/mokunachoi as you can learn a lot from their workflow for character making!
