At the end the officer says The Indiana system is down. So that means he is lying when he said he and his dispatch checked and it’s showing NOT on file. The cop was lying because he was originally trying to jam this guy up.

And if he wasn’t white there’s a much greater chance this interaction would not go this way

I saw 9 cop cars parked at the Tempe Improv, all with their lights on, and I had to know what was going on, so I asked. Two guys got into a fight. 9 Squad cars for 2 guys who quit fighting as soon as the first cop showed up. I think they get bored and want to socialize with other cops.

Why did the cop lie to him? The Indiana system was down at the time and they never said the tag didn’t exist… the system was just down.

Because when there’s a registration issue, it usually is a red flag for stolen vehicles, therefore more backup is called if things go south and the suspect flees. I despise when people complain about the number of cops called to potentially dangerous situations.
