That is not how democratic representation works, June. Reform voters have not been “excluded from representation”. They elected MPs, and those MPs remain free to speak in Parliament, question ministers, propose policies, vote on legislation and represent their constituents. This was a limited political discussion, not a constitutional assembly to which every party was entitled to be invited. Several other parties represented in Parliament were not invited either. Reform does not acquire a special entitlement simply because it received four million votes, particularly when votes cast at a general election do not determine attendance at every subsequent government meeting. Andy Burnham is entitled to decide whom he believes can contribute constructively to an initial discussion. Reform is equally entitled to criticise the process and publish its own detailed social-care proposals. But describing this as four million people being denied representation is misleading. Not being invited to one meeting is not disenfranchisement.

And, again - I reitterate, Through his own choice, he is not a sitting MP. It was a leaders meeting.

In British politics the party with the majority of seats in Parliament is the ruling party. Hence it is entirely up to Labour what other party's social care policies they do and don't want in their social care review.
