4 years ago today, a monstrous supercell exploded like a nuke over Chicagoland. This storm exceeded 65K feet in height and caused damage to much of the CHI metro, dropping a few weak tornadoes. If shear was better, a tornado disaster may have transpired #ilwx

Two years ago today: this supercell in Southern New Hampshire that produced a tornado in Dublin a couple hours earlier. Not exactly the storm structure you see every day in New England. -- June 23, 2024 Stratham, New Hampshire

BREAKING: Tornado just occurred in Hammond, Louisiana, a few minutes ago. This was not tornado-warned, but was severe-warned for damaging winds. A couplet quickly appeared on radar as storms converged, then led to a weak and brief tornado near the Walmart Supercenter on the west side of town. Damage is unknown, but many residents are reporting power outages throughout town. Thank you to Randall for sending this in!

The Kankakee Supercell is one of the most unbelievable Storms I’ve seen in a long time. This Supercell was an absolute MONSTER. It ⬇️ • Maintained a Mesocyclone for OVER 7 HOURS • Triggered 7 PDS Tornado Warnings • Produced the FIRST Tornado Emergency of the year This thing was a Tornado producing machine for HOURs. God, please be with the people affected by this Storm. Please give them your abundant LOVE 🙏

10 years ago, after narrowly winning the referendum, Boris Johnson confessed, "We didn't have a plan for what to do next" "We didn't think it was our job to have a plan" 10 years later, Brexit continues to be a disaster How much more damage to our economy, may many more billions lost, how many more public services underfunded, till the UK get's a political leader who is honest with the public about the damage caused by Brexit and takes the UK back into the EU?

25 years ago today, Tropical Storm Allison made landfall into the city of Houston, Texas. Even though her sustained winds never exceeded 60 mph, and her core pressure bottomed out at a paltry 1,000 mbar, she claimed 50 lives and caused nearly $15 billion in damages after stalling out for 5 DAYS over East Texas. More than 3 feet of rainfall was dropped. In Houston alone, Allison’s swampy fiefdom of freshwater flooding inundated ~70,000 homes. One of the most well-known examples of a cyclone’s strength not equating to its destructive potential on land.
