Facial reconstruction of a 4,000-year-old Aryan man from Chelyabinsk The Sintashta culture is a Middle Bronze Age archaeological culture associated with the spread of Proto-Indo-Iranian languages. The physical anthropology of the Sintashta population is marked by pronounced heterogeneity, visible both between sites and within individual burial grounds. Even within a single kurgan, we see a mosaic of cranial types, including Steppe European and Uraloid variants, as well as those showing Southern European characteristics of the Middle Volga region (Balanovo culture) and Central Asia (Dzharkutan, Apalli tepe, Gonur) (Khokhlov, Kitov 2014: 140–141). Within this heterogeneous picture, however, a small but distinctive male cranial complex stands out. These individuals possess a characteristic set of traits that clearly separates them from the rest of the Sintashta sample. They are broad-faced Caucasoids with expanded and somewhat flattened zygomatic bones, a strongly projecting nose, and a generally large, robust facial skeleton. Although their scarcity and poor preservation limit statistical analysis, their morphology remains typologically and visually distinct within each assemblage. The reconstructed individual from Stepnoye Cemetery, Kurgan 4, Burial 8 exemplifies this complex. While the skull is poorly preserved, several features are clear: pronounced maturation, dolichocrania (a massive cranial length of 206 mm and a very small cranial width estimated at roughly 126 mm), a high cranial vault, a large face (estimated at roughly 133 mm in width), a moderately horizontal facial profile, and a strongly protruding nose. These traits set him apart from the rest of the Stepnoye series, which otherwise displays extreme variation.

🚨 NOBODY TAKES THIS SERIOUSLY UNTIL IT’S TOO LATE Everyone remembers COVID crash. At first, nobody took COVID seriously. Then within weeks, the entire world shut down. Now investors are watching another virus story closely: Hantavirus. And the reason is simple: THE FATALITY RATE. COVID changed the world with roughly a 1% fatality rate. Some hantavirus strains have reported numbers closer to 40%. 1% → global shutdowns. 40% → imagine the market reaction if panic starts spreading inside a major city. Travel and tourism would probably get hit first: → Airlines → Hotels → Cruise companies → Tourism ETFs like JETS and PEJ Investors still remember 2020. And this situation becomes even more dangerous because of the incubation period. In some cases, symptoms can take weeks to appear. Which means people could already be: → Traveling → Flying → Working → Moving across countries before the scale becomes fully visible. That’s where fear enters the market. And once fear appears, investors immediately start pricing in worst-case scenarios. What happens if workers stop showing up? → Factories → Ports → Logistics centers → Transportation networks Supply chains freeze. Then the issue is no longer inflation. The issue becomes: → Shortages → Delayed deliveries → Slowing global trade And unlike COVID, there’s still major uncertainty around vaccines and large-scale treatment options for hantavirus outbreaks. That uncertainty alone can create massive volatility. Because when confidence disappears, money rotates fast: → Cash → Gold → Defensive sectors Risk gets sold first. → Tech → Small caps → Crypto Most people think crashes begin with charts. In reality, they begin with fear. That’s why I’m watching this situation very closely right now. When the next move becomes clear, I’ll post it here first. Follow and turn notifications on..

THAT $70 "RUN YOUR OWN LLMS" PI KIT CAN'T RUN A SINGLE LLM. IT'S A VISION CHIP WITH NO RAM. that clip sells a raspberry pi 5 in a slick case with an ai accelerator and the caption "your own llms." clean build, fun kit. the claim is where it breaks. the fine print: the popular $70 pi ai kit uses a hailo-8l, 13 tops. it's built for vision, object detection and image processing, and it has no memory of its own. so it cannot run large language models. full stop the board that actually can is a different one: the newer ai hat+ 2, hailo-10h, 40 tops, with 8gb of dedicated ram. that's $130, not $70 and even that runs only tiny models. llama 3.2 at 1b, qwen 2.5 at 1.5b, deepseek r1 at 1.5b. edge llms live in the 1-7b range, against cloud models at 500b to 2 trillion so the honest pitch: for $130 you can run a very small language model on a pi, slowly, as a fun learning project. that's real and it's cool. "your own llms" on a $70 vision kit is not. why this keeps happening: "ai kit" and a big "tops" number sell. tops sounds like intelligence. but tops measures vision-style math, not whether the chip has the memory to hold a language model. the spec that matters for llms is ram, and the cheap kit has none. the honest caveats, both ways: the $70 kit is genuinely great, just at vision. cameras, object detection, that's its job the $130 hat really does run small llms locally, which a pi couldn't do at all two years ago. that's progress "small" is the load-bearing word. don't expect gpt at home on a pi the takeaway: before you buy a kit because the caption says llm, check two numbers. not the tops. the ram, and the size of the model it can actually load. no 70-dollar miracle, no gpt in a pi case, no tops number that means what you think. save this before you buy the wrong kit for the word on the box.

Facial reconstruction of a 4,000-year-old man from Bulanovo, Orenburg Bulanovo is a moundless site attributed to the Sintashta culture, though it also shows elements of Abashevo burial traditions. In burials 4 (the reconstructed specimen), 8, and 9, items of the Seima–Turbino type were discovered. The Bulanovo craniological series includes four male and three female skulls, along with one juvenile and two children. Its polymorphism was noted in a preliminary publication [Khokhlov, Kitov 2009d: 5–7]. The series comprises dolichocranic skulls (burials 5 and 6/1), mesocranic (burials 6/2, 11, 14), and brachycranic (burials 4, 8, 9). Some individuals show a well-profiled face in the horizontal plane and a moderately to strongly projecting nose (6/1, 6/2, 14), exhibiting a typical Caucasoid morphology. By contrast, the brachycranic skulls from burials 4, 8, and 9, those associated with Seima–Turbino artifacts, display a distinctive appearance. These, as well as the female skull from burial 11, have a noticeably reduced horizontal facial profile and less prominent nasal bones compared to the rest of the series. According to anthropologist Alexander Khokhlov, the male and female subsets of the series appear to show slightly different tendencies in variability: the male sample aligns more closely with northeastern forest-related complexes, while the female sample leans toward European steppe complexes. Skulls with moderately profiled or even flattened faces are not unusual in the Potapovka–Sintashta series. Some specimens, while fitting within the general Europoid range, exhibit specific traits and proportions that bring them closer to East Asian complexes. One example is the skull from burial 3, kurgan 5 of the Grachevka II cemetery (Samara region). This specimen is massive, dolichocranial, with a low vault, sloping and narrow forehead, pronounced naso-malar profiling, moderate zygomaxillary projection, low simotic height and index, and a moderately projecting nose. The nasal bones are roof-shaped, the supraorbital arches sit high above the orbits, and the mastoid processes are very small. This combination of traits cannot be considered fully Europoid and is likely of mixed origin, though identifying the precise Eurasian components is difficult. Notably, Seima-type imports were also found at Grachevka II. A similar pattern is observed in the skull from Skvortsovka (5/3/1) in the Cis-Urals, roughly contemporary with Sintashta, which likewise shows certain East Asian features. The skull from burial 4 resembles the sublaponoid cranial type. It has a small cranial length (175 mm), a very large cranial breadth (151 mm), a broad bizygomatic width of about 140 mm, and a very large mandibular width of 120 mm. This specimen also shows morphological similarities to the individual from the Rostovka burial. The Rostovka DNA demonstrates a highly diverse autosomal profiles, including individuals rich in ANE ancestry, Altai_N, some with Steppe_MLBA, and outliers with Yakutia_LNBA, likely reflecting the complex and heterogeneous nature of the Seima–Turbino metallurgical horizon.
