In 1987, six years after surviving an actual assassination attempt, Ronald Reagan was giving a speech when a balloon popped loudly nearby. It sounded exactly like a gunshot. Without flinching or ducking, the President simply paused, looked at the audience, and deadpanned, "Missed me."
