47 years ago today The Clash released their first single in the U.S. with "I Fought The Law", January 24, 1979 #punk #punks #punkrock #oldschoolpunk #punklegends #theclash #ifoughtthelaw #history #punkrockhistory #otd

As a 16 year old in NYC, punk was already my favorite genre. My kids grew up listening to them. I would sing Bankrobber to them as a lullaby. Ran into Joe in a bar in Manhattan once. It broke my heart when combat rock came out. Knew it was the end.

First U.S. single? Who knew! What a cover!
