483 days ago, I built my own web analytics out of frustration. I was using Plausible and loved its simplicity, but I felt stuck. Pageviews are nice, but they don’t tell you what makes money. So I built my dream tool: connect Stripe to traffic, and see where revenue...

⭐️: I honestly spent so much time thinking about it. At first, I kept wondering if it was the right choice. Every time I looked in the mirror, it felt unfamiliar and a little awkward. And I think there are certain shades of blonde that suit me, and others that just don’t feel like me. But I really, really thought about it a lot. On top of that, there were times when I was out and about and had to deal with some not-so-great reactions because of it, so I had a lot of worries. I kept going back and forth in my head. When I wore that outfit for the music show performance, I actually couldn’t sleep at all the night before. I had so many thoughts and worries that I was basically fighting with myself. My mood was really bad that day. But even though my body felt like it weighed a ton, I dragged myself to the music show and did it. And while I was there, I was still battling with myself, thinking, “Is this really right? Am I just too stuck in my own perspective to see it clearly? Maybe I’m the only one who doesn’t get it.” But at the same time, I kept telling myself, “We already filmed the music video like this. This is something I have to commit to.” So I went on stage. I was honestly feeling really down that day. I had almost no confidence in myself. But later on, seeing that so many people understood it and liked it made me realise that maybe it wasn’t completely the wrong choice after all. That said, my favourite hairstyle on myself is still black hair. So today, I got my hair and makeup done, looked in the mirror, and thought, “I need to go live.” So here I am.

#jingjingyu #JanJingjing oh god snap25 and jan encouraged jingjing to overcome her fear of singing 😭 🐯: i want to share first regarding singing. actually, p’jan and i had this same dream where we wanted to have a song of our own. we both like this side of the entertainment industry, like idols. i’ve always had this dream of actually wanting to become an idol. p’jan likes this side of stuff too. but something happened that made me feel… start pulling myself away from the microphone completely. i didn’t want to sing anymore. it made me anxious and stressed. so honestly, i am someone who lacks confidence when it comes to singing. i stopped singing for a long time, until i joined GMMTV, where there was an opportunity… 🐯: the management told me i might have an opportunitiy to have a song of my own now. at first, i said, “i don’t dare, i’m scared. i don’t dare to do it. i don’t dare to sing. i’m scared. i don’t want to. i’m not confident.” until i got encouragement from p’jan and snap25, who said, “but isn’t this something you like? if you don’t do it now, then when will you do it?” so i started thinking, “yeah that’s true. if i don’t do it now, when will i have the chance to sing and have my own music video again?” so i chose to overcome my own fear 🐯: these days, if you ask if i feel confident yet, i’m still not fully confident, but i have become much more happier with singing. if you ask the experience of having songs, it feels fun and new right now. and it makes me very happy with what i’ve been able to do

Without the love of Christ, I would have committed suicide after losing $10M in months... here's the story I didn't talk about this in the first video, because it's honestly too painful, but there was one day I almost ended my life, even while believing God is real. I yelled at him and told him I hated the world he created while I was driving to find a cliff to jump from. I'm not married, I don't have kids, that $10M portfolio was what I was building with my life. I had three siblings working for me and I had to let all three go, leaving over half my family jobless. So it felt like I had lost everything, let everyone I cared for down, and life was meaningless. But Jesus showed me his love like I never had felt before in one of my weakest moments, the desire to kill myself went away COMPLETELY in a split second and I broke down in tears. The feeling was like being hugged by all my loved ones at once. My old Christian missionary parents told me later that they had started praying for me at that exact moment, "The LORD is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit." I now know that this is only the beginning. My faith was once a largely intellectual faith, now it is also visceral, raw, emotional, and I am full of the joy of my salvation in an indescribable way, even despite my circumstances. If I wanted to take my own life on my own, but Jesus saved me, the rest of my life belongs to Him in every way. I started crying even now as I write this, thinking back on that day. How hopeless I felt before I felt the presence and love of Jesus. No I won't be perfect going forward, but my Savior is perfect and his power is made perfect in our weakness. To everyone in the comments, of course I know I made MANY mistakes and was trying to rush to $1B way too fast. I was full of greed and serving mainly money. And I'm sorry if anyone lost money following my posts. However, I am certain that even my wandering has all been a part of God's plan. And if it is part of God's plan that I ever recover my worldly wealth (for my actual wealth is greater now than it has EVER been) and I reach a number like $10M again, it is His, not mine. And I will not share it or promote my own glory anymore. Because it's not my money to promote myself with, everything I have is God's to use on what's close to His heart. If I have food and clothing and a place to sleep most nights, AND the love of Christ is in me (the engine that now drives everything), I'm truly content. I'm done using my X and YouTube accounts to promote myself, my worldly opinions and my own glory. Lord Jesus, help me from now on to glorify your name alone, for you alone are worthy. Amen. Love you all. And no problem if you want to unfollow, I understand that. "For the word of the cross is folly to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God." ❤️

This part breaks and heals my heart at the same time 💔Mingi’s words are full of wisdom, as always🥺 🐥 I was full of arrogance in the beginning, but after I made my debut, I felt so small. From then on, I lost a lot of my mental strength. As soon as I made my debut, I thought I was the best and I thought I was in first place. That’s why those aspirations, that tenacity, and that something about me - my self-worth - was so high. But after that, it was destroyed in an instant. 🐥 I lost a lot of my self-worth, and I started to feel like I was worth nothing. I started to doubt if there was any reason for me to be in this group. When I feel that kind of self-disgust, I think it’s important how I overcome those thoughts. In my early days of my debut, I think I only had a pretty packaging on me. I used to think, ‘I’m doing well, what more can I do?’ But after that pretty packaging came off, I had nothing inside. So I think it took me a long time to fill myself up. Now, even if I break down once in a while, I just go back to the human Song Mingi, and I look for the things I like one by one, and then I think, ‘People will like me a bit now, right?’ Since we’re celebrities, we need to satisfy the people to a certain degree. But I think we still have to satisfy ourselves in the process as well. I think I try to find a harmony between the two in my head. 🐥 It took me a long time to build this up, but I think the process of building myself up, unlike building a sand castle, you build it up little by little. So I feel like, internally, I have become more resilient, compare to before.

George Lucas on how he had to reluctantly write the screenplay for 'American Graffiti' (1973) & the confidence he gained from the movie's success: "When I was doing 'American Graffiti' (1973) I was still struggling with my ‘I don’t want to be a writer’ syndrome. I had some good friends of mine that I wanted to write the screenplay, but it took me like two years just to get the money to do a screenplay. And I got a little tiny amount of money and—which I had to go actually to the Cannes Film Festival to get on my own. So finally I got this money. I called back and I said, you know, “I got the money. We can start working on the screenplay.” And they said, “Oh, we don’t want to do that now. We’ve got our own low-budget picture off the ground and we can’t write it.” I said, “Oh no.” I said, “What am I going to do? I am in Europe and I’m not going to be back for like three months and I want to get this thing off the ground.” So they recommended another student from school that I knew pretty well. I had a story treatment that laid out the entire story scene by scene, so I called him over the phone from London and I said, “Do you want to do this?” And he said, “Okay.” The person I was working with at that time as a producer made a deal with him for the whole money because there wasn’t very much. It was so tiny that he could only get him to do it for the whole amount of money. When I came back from England, the screenplay was a completely different screenplay from the story treatment. It was more like 'Hot Rods to Hell' (1967). It was very fantasy-like, with playing chicken and things that kids didn’t really do. I wanted something that was more like the way I grew up. So I took that and I said, “Okay. Now here I am. I’ve got a deal to turn in a screenplay. I’ve got a screenplay that is just not the kind of screenplay I want at all and I have no money.” And, I spent the very last money I had saved up to go to Europe to make the deal, so I had nothing. That was a very dark period for me so I sat down myself and wrote the screenplay. After I did 'American Graffiti', and it was successful, it was a big moment for me because I really did sit down with myself and say, “Okay, now I am a director. Now I know I can get a job. I can work in this industry, and apply my trade, and express my ideas on things and be creative in a way that I enjoy. Even if I end up doing TV commercials or something, or I fall back into what I really love is documentaries. I’ll be able to do it. I know I can get a job somewhere. I know I can raise money somewhere. I know I can do what I want to do.” That was a very good feeling. At that point, I’d made it. There wasn’t anything in my life that was going to stop me from making movies." Not long ago, I turned down an offer from a major news network. I read through the terms and realized it came with too many constraints, it was more of a control document than a partnership. So I walked away and chose a smaller outlet instead. The pay was not the same, but they treated me with integrity and gave me the freedom I cared about. No one ever controlled my speech. My mom thought I was making a mistake. She warned me that people who cling to idealism and independence in the media don’t usually end up financially secure. My dad saw it differently. He told me to go for it, decline the fancy offer and go with what I believed, he said that I had the drive to carve my own path and shouldn’t let myself get absorbed into something that didn’t fit. He’s always been in my corner. He's my best friend. I trusted that instinct and went all in. That decision gave me the space to chase my own vision in journalism, and eventually I stepped out completely on my own, no overhead, no constraints. It’s intense, almost nonstop work 24/7, but the payoff is real - I love what I do, I respect the people I work with and I get to stay true to myself. I sleep so well at night! I might not be the richest journalist out there, but I’d argue I’m one of the luckiest. I love my colleagues and I love my friends in the industry. Journalists are often hated today because of the rise of propaganda machines, but some are doing far braver work than many soldiers out there! So support the good ones, you all know who they are. Who do you want to see on the show next?
