5 things that struck me about the Netherlands

The garbage removal at the end is really incredible. Amazing engineering - a very practical and elegant solution X continually debates the value of travel, but one great use for it is exactly this: you can see what your own particular country does poorly (or well)

One thing that really stood out to me about the Netherlands when I was there was teenage independence. Everywhere you go there's teenagers just hanging out, riding bikes, using public transportation. I would love for my kids to grow up like that.

My buddy works for ASML. He said that besides the bad weather, the terrible food, and the arrogant people, it’s ok to live there.

Yeah, the quality of life; the infrastructure in much of Europe is better compared to the states, the only thing better in America is the money. Americans make a lot more than the average European.

My brother visited Amsterdam a decade ago. He said there were cigarettes on the ground everywhere. Did they clean that up? I like that it's a bike city, traffic should be calmer and better air quality.

Great video. I like your comments about a culture of design and engineering - clearly it’s palpable there. Seems the thing most palpable in the states, or at least big cities, is profit maximization. You can feel it in most new construction.

Good design and beauty have huge impacts on our well being, but are often neglected because they are non-quantifable. I think you'd like Melbourne. Well designed, well functioning, but not as beautiful as Amsterdam. What takes you there?
