Did this gentleman explain to that five-year-old child the punishment that is planned for him in islam if he decides to change his mind after the conversion ?

That's a big lad for 5 years old! Alhumdullilah and may Allah (SWT) keep him steadfast on the deen. One word of caution to the duat though - converts/reverts have to be mukhaluf, one of the conditions being reaching the age of puberty.
