A pain 💔 and sleepless nights for 2 years that finally ended and was resolved in a week 🙏🏾 You may find that you are going through the same, read this 👇🏾 This client contacted View4You after battling for almost 2 years with MIOSA and dealership. We got involved, did the inspection and provided our report. MIOSA then ruled in favour of the client and said the car must be repaired. However the dealership did not repair the car as per ruling, we were grateful for the ruling however we felt it was unfair to rule that the dealership should repair, this ruling should have been a full refund or to replace the car as it was a lemon 🍋, unsafe to drive and not roadworthy!! Keep in mind this client has been paying insurance and instalments for a car she is not using, it’s either stuck in her yard or at the dealership 😔, the finance house had refused to uplift this deal and stated the client must sort it out with the dealership. We all know how that goes, it’s straight into a brick wall !! The dealership refused to repair the car, which made us happy because we knew where this will end up. The matter returned to MIOSA, MIOSA then issued a closing letter for the case to be escalated to The NCC. This did not sit well with our Founder, he then made some high-level calls to the finance house which was ABSA, and within a week this deal was uplifted and the process of paying the client back all their instalments started. This story is a reality many people in South Africa are faced with, they are driving lemons 🍋 🍋 because they trusted the dealership. So listen to these findings. ABSA does not finance salvaged cars. The dealership had lied to ABSA, as many others do to their financing houses, and sold this car as non-salvage and accident-free. That is why they did not entertain the client. The client then also didn’t know the car was a salvage car until we at View4You inspected the car and found out not only was it a salvage, this should be scrap metal, not roadworthy, unsafe, it was in a terrible accident🙏🏾 The culprits here are the Car Dealerships, they are not being honest with the finance houses !!! People of South Africa, you may be driving a salvage car that is financed illegally, you may be thinking why is this car so problematic? Well you could be a victim because you trusted the dealership and you are now driving a salvaged car unknowingly!!! If you bought a second-hand car and you did not get it Inspected wether financed or cash. Please get it checked, and get the history checks done as well. You are welcome to book us to do it for you anywhere in South Africa as we are a Nationwide company. If we find out that the car you bought and financed was a salvage car we will help you contact the right people in all the finance houses and bypass those that are not telling the authorities in the finance houses the truth !!!! Stratosphere was our biggest and heaviest character on #Transformers ROTB. He was a real challenge to deal with on the Modeling, Texturing, and Rendering side. He had 1434 UDIMs due to his immense scale and was made up of tens of thousands of objects. His level of detail was truly something else. His vehicle form was also a behemoth. We had also built a mortar for his robot form and a cannon for his vehicle form but neither of these made it into the film as his part in the final battle was cut out. He was originally supposed to help out in the final battle, using both of these weapons against the Sweepers and Predacons. The decision to cut him from the final act came very late as all of his assets were final at that point. We were never told the reason why his role was cut from the film. I had to re-design my texturing system in Mari when working on him to ensure that it could handle such a complex and large character. I had to simplify a lot of the procedural systems and even had to branch off some of them into their own files to ensure that artists could work with somewhat decent performance. We ran into a lot of issues pushing him through our pipeline, both as a model as well as rendering him due to the sheer amount of objects and textures that had to be processed. For shots, it was requested by Lighting that we reduce his memory footprint as Google had complained he was taking up too much memory and their I/O for rendering on the cloud was being affected. The leadership team and I decided that the best way to do this was to half the texel density on the parts that wouldn't be visible in our approved shots and to also half the resolution of the textures in the parts not visible to camera. This allowed us to optimize his memory footprint both in shots as well as storage and I/O. It was massive technical undertaking working on Stratosphere, so much so that we had to delay getting him into shots as we simply couldn't push him through with our normal tooling. I really enjoyed the challenge that he posed for us as a team. A gentle reminder from Bruce Pardy that it was the Stephen Harper government in 2012 that repealed the sections of the Criminal Code that allowed residents to use "whatever force is necessary" against trespassers. AKA Castle Doctrine. Maxime Bernier, who was part of the government at that time, clarifies that in an effort to strengthen gun ownership rights, the law was changed as a compromise to the left as a political solution. In hindsight, this was a compromise that should not have happened, and we would be better off with the old laws that we had.
