I am always amazed at the inventions that are created under necessity but are so far off from what we actually could achieve if we just held off on that one invention. the fax machine was such an invention. because of it, email did not take off until the 90's. email existed in the 70's but people liked the feel of paper!

So the only reason this is not still in use is NOT because it doesn't work. It's because the car makers DIDN'T want to use it. Ppl talking about "Not being able to parallel park means you can't drive" Don't actually know the difference between the two things.
