63 grass fires in one day. That's the challenge London's firefighters faced yesterday. My thanks goes out to them for all their hard work. We all have a part to play in reducing that risk. Keep sparks, cigarettes and anything hot well away from dry grass. If you spot... show more

Wildfires can devastate communities. They threaten homes, wildlife and the environment while adding pressure to our emergency services. In this dry weather, please keep sparks, cigarettes and anything hot well away from dry grass.

If you wondered what it's like to be close to a grass fire, take a look at this video showing just how quickly they can spread. Help us prevent grass fires: ❌Don’t barbecue in parks 🚮Throw your rubbish away safely 🚬Put your cigarettes out properly

As a proud Angeleno, the fires that have devastated our county have been heart-breaking. I am so fortunate that while my own home in the Palisades was at risk and had some damage from the fires, I am safe. So many others cannot say the same, and my heart goes out to all of those who have been affected and are rebuilding their lives from ash. I wrote this poem, “Smoldering Dawn”, to process my own fears and prayers for us as we come together as a community to heal from this trauma. While we mourn what we have lost, we also give thanks to the first responders, firefighters and civilians who have fought so tirelessly to combat these fires and ensure the safety of so many. To honor them, I’m releasing this poem as a fundraiser for the California Fire Foundation, which is offering support and aid to firefighters families, as well as those who have been impacted by the fires. 💛 Give what you can, help who you can, stay safe, and this too we shall conquer.

Listen, Reno. We need to have a serious conversation. The NWS Reno says increasing winds will bring elevated fire weather conditions through the weekend. The #BugFire may be nearing 100% containment, but crews are still actively fighting the #HawkFire. At the same time, firefighters have had to respond to several unrelated fires around Reno. This is the week to be extra cautious and help prevent the next fire! If you are recreating outdoors, use common sense. Don’t drag trailer chains, park on dry grass, target shoot near vegetation or use equipment that could create a spark. Follow all closures, and absolutely do not fly a drone near a wildfire. One careless decision can start a fire, pull already-stretched resources away from the Hawk Fire and put firefighters, residents and more homes at risk. Please don’t be the reason crews have another fire to fight. Stay alert and stay safe.

Today is Thank A First Responder Day. Here’s a little throwback to spending the day with Rural Metro Fire in Tucson, Arizona and trying on some of their gear. Today we share our gratitude for first responders and their families. Their hard work and sacrifice keeps us all safe. We are proud to be hosting a great day at Australia Zoo for all first responders with Fortem Australia. And Thanks again to rural metro, they shared knowledge of how they fight fires and keep the community safe, and we shared some tips on the best ways to rescue rattlesnakes out of homes!

SAN DIEGO-Yesterday we went to a homeless encampment that has been a hot spot for fires As soon as we walked up we saw the beginnings of a new fire left unattended Meanwhile locals are being warned that their power could be shut off due to high fire risk

Thanks for the well wishes and concerns in relation to Buckaroo. All of our runners have pulled up safe and here is Buckaroo having a pick of grass, back at the stables.

This man is definitely drawing the line as straight as can be to distinguish his lawn from his neighbors. A few things I noticed. One, he didn’t edge the lawn. Two, are we all blowing our clippings into the street? Three, that is keeping your grass pretty short, lastly, that’s a different and cool lawnmower, a John Deere 180B. Do you share a grass line with a neighbor, maybe one who doesn’t keep their lawn up? And do you keep your mower low to the ground and mow your grass short like that or do you keep it on the highest raised setting and like to have a thick, plush grass?

Toughness. Effort. Hard work. That’s my standard. So I’m excited to team up with Every Man Jack (EVERY MAN JACK) for a partnership that's all about turning grit into a routine. Their products hold up to the work I put in, on and off the field. Clean ingredients, no nonsense, and built to keep me ready. I've always believed that if you want something, you don’t just talk about it–you put in the work. So to all those out there who are putting in the work every day, this one’s for you.

This video captures a fire at a DNV residence that was ignited from a discarded cigarette, 6 hours prior. Chief Hutchinson speaks on the dangers of the improper disposal of cigarettes in hot and dry environments. We all need to be vigilant with fire safety in our community.

🚨 JUST NOW: President Trump angers the Democrats by going full WASHINGTON DC BEAUTY mode, he personally made donations and worked with Doug Burgum "You're going to have the reflecting pool opened within hours. I mean, literally within hours. The water starts pouring in tonight. It's going to be beautiful. You haven't seen that since 1922!" "The parks are open. We changed the grass. You know, grass has a life also. Grass has a life. And that grass hasn't been changed in 70, 80 years. It died many times over!" "We have beautiful grass, beautiful parks, beautiful everything. We don't have people living on it. And Washington, D.C. In a matter of 14 months, Washington, D.C. is like a different place that people are coming here!" "You know, the restaurants were all going out of business, you know, because you used the restaurants. And now the restaurants are hot. In fact, if anything, we don't have enough restaurants based." "They're all reopening. It's become vibrant. It's a beautiful thing to watch. And I am honored that I've been able to do it to our nation's capital." Patriot.

The past week has been a stressful one for many people impacted by the wildfires near Saint Andrews. During an emergency situation like this one, we get to see the best in each other. Thank you to all New Brunswickers who took the time to help one another and keep each other safe. Thank you to all those who have taken proactive steps to protect our forests. The risk of fires continues to be high throughout the province and we can all do our part to reduce that risk. Please take every precaution you can to not allow a small act become an out of control fire. Please – stay vigilant, stay cautious, and stay safe.
