Apocalypse Now released in theaters in the United States 46 years ago on August 15, 1979. I always say that Francis Ford Coppola changed my expectations of Cinema with this film: I didn’t know a film like this was possible until I first sat down and watched it. I consider Apocalypse Now the best war film in the history of film. I also believe this film capped the best decade from any director in film history, in which Coppola gave us The Godfather (1972), The Godfather: Part 2 (1974), The Conversation (1974), and Apocalypse Now (1979).

Hall of Fame basketball coach Mike D'Antoni believes one of the most important jobs of a coach is helping players believe in themselves. Special moment for me last night wrapping up the regular season. I had my first linebacker coach come to the last game of the season. This game being special because it was the first place I took a snap as a linebacker in 2020 (yes, I’ve only been playing this position for a legit 4 years ). Anyways, it was this man that told me at one of my lowest points I would get drafted and play in this league. And all he asked for was a signed jersey. All-way love, coach. There will be more growth as you taught me never to settle !!!! Brian Ward

The Godfather: Part II won the Academy Award for Best Picture just two years after the first film won Best Picture. Francis Ford Coppola didn’t win Best Director for the first film but won it for the second. I think Christopher Nolan could do what Coppola couldn’t do with the first two Godfathers- win Best Picture and Best Director twice in a row. That’s the level of history we’re dealing with here.
