The episode feels so hopeless. Rick had such a badass, “we’re all that, and no one’s going to get in our way” type attitude leading up to this, and it was all crumbling right infront of his own eyes. Rick had a large amount of confidence after crushing “Negan’s” outpost, when it was really one of MANY. He thought he killed the bear, when in reality, he just knocked on his door, waking him up. Such a great episode, but one that is pretty much watching our group scurry for safety, as the wolves (not the actual wolves group) close in, until they’re cornered. All paths closed off. You can tell Rick had confidence during his first encounter with Simon, and then, SNAP, it all started to fizzle.
