1\ 8 months ago @mattgaetz appeared on @Timcast just after the vote for Speaker. He gave a very insightful 20 minutes in the opener that I’m going to thread and bring context. This is very important IMO to dust off the shelf 🧵 👇

2\ There were 3 basic pillars of what the 20 members of the House were demanding of McCarthy. Policy:

3\ The Second ask was procedure. Enough with the 1000s of pages in massive bills with inadequate time to review etc. Procedure:

4\ Placing specific people on committees, leadership roles and in control of the finances. Personnel was a very important ask given it’s importance in Governance Personnel:

5\ Tim asks Matt if he fears retaliation and Matt tells us how “Nancy Pelosi is going to do down in history as the last Imperial House Speaker” and she was able to amass great power and even mentions an interview that Paul Ryan gave about having too much power

6\ Matt credits McCarthy here for dissolving a lot of that power and agreeing to what you saw exercised today. One Member Motion to Vacate the Chair Rule:

8\ @Lukewearechange asked the question many people want to know, the answer isn’t but is what you’d expect Another uncomfortable truth about what it’s like as a Freshman to come into DC and how lobby tries to instantly capture you, if that doesn’t work it progresses to attacks.

9\ Matt goes into further detail about how if you just go along and get along, it will be a very easy road and smooth sailing as it can be. This is also very enticing as you think about it. So when you see fighters out there, consider these things..

10\ You can hear the same critiques now as we did back then and it really shows you how the “system” Matt laid out really works. Once you see it, you can’t unsee it.

11\ Matt summarizes well how we should always be cautious in “Bi-Partisan support” of an issue or bill and they it’s always cloaked in “Unity” We’ve seen what happens when Congress or establishment congress people trots out the “Unity” card. Remember the “Patriot Act”?

12\ So to recap this is what was asked for, and as Matt had pointed out, they were agreed upon, and were not given. So they exercised the 1 Vote Motion rule and here we are today. This is why I support Matt, he did what he said he was going to do. Period.

@ThaWoodChipper @barnes_law Lobying should be illegal. It's extremely clear that lobbyists run the country.

@ThaWoodChipper This system of legalized bribery by and for the elites has to come to an end. One of its worst byproducts is that it severely disadvantages from a monetary standpoint election campaigns of candidates who seek to do the will of the people.
