75 years ago this week, a fledgling record label named Atlantic Records released its first recordings, and one of the world’s most prominent, enduring, and influential music companies was born.

The launch was heralded by an unassuming two-paragraph item on page 19 of the January 17, 1948 issue of The Billboard, headlined “Atlantic Diskery Makes Its Debut.” Follow along throughout 2023 as we celebrate 75 years of Atlantic Records history.
