Even some Libertarians will willingly put themselves into 1984-style thought control. There are words they won't even type out or say aloud. Ideas they refuse to think. It's pretty crazy.

Was George Orwell an "ethnonationalist"? Or did he just recognise the fact that being English is a product of heritage? George Orwell was born in India. Was he Indian? No. Because he had British ancestry. This wasn't controversial until a few years ago. Labels are being thrown around to stigmatise plain and obvious facts. Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood claimed at Labour Party Conference last year: "Mine is the patriotism of Orwell... But patriotism is turning into something smaller. Something more like ethno-nationalism, which struggles to accept that someone who looks like me, and has a faith like mine, can truly be English or British." But Shabana Mahmood is not English. And in terms of culture and politics, Mahmood is much closer to 1984's Big Brother than she is to George Orwell.
