Serrano positioned his patrol car on a bridge and heard the boy crying. He and a civilian rushed into the water where the child was clinging to a branch. The boy was safely rescued, reunited with his family at the scene, evaluated for hypothermia, and taken to a hospital. He suffered no serious injuries.
