if the dominator is already locked into place in the ground and you were to run out of gas, would you still be fine? (if a tornado passed overhead)

25 years ago, today, on May 3, 1999, arguably the strongest #tornado in History tore through communities like Bridge Creek, Moore, and south OKC. Here was our chase of this infamous #tornado as 18 year old freshman at OU. Still to this day, this is the most powerful and structurally textbook tornadic supercell I have ever chased. It was a lesson in tornado / supercell structure and in the dark side these tornadoes leave behind that is the damage and loss of life/property. Hopefully, we never see an event like this ever again

I estimate 120 mph winds inside this broad tornado cyclone with stronger winds in any subvortices. This tornado seemed to have satellite vortices but not a lot of powerful subvortices evident, maybe due to a lack of cross isobaric flow with such a broad vortex LocalMan Weather Will Clay

On this day, three years ago, I intercepted this insane #tornado by drone and by rental car. This was a bit of a gamble on the forecast, since the moderate risk was to the north of southern Kansas, but I figured we would need the more westerly winds aloft to capitalize on the strong low-level shear. This supercell barely was able to remain surface based near the magic hour, but got over the hump and dropped a tornado quickly. This storm did not have a tornado warning at the time, but the local firefighters were watching the live stream here on Facebook and sounded the tornado sirens - likely saving countless lives. Never stop chasing
