I've never heard this story before. The story I heard was that blacks joined the democrats after LBJohnson signed the welfare state legislation.

Now that Richard Nixon’s own recordings are available, we all know he was prejudiced. Nixon believed in “racial hierarchy.” These days, we don’t have to rely on secret recordings; Donald Trump does his racism out loud.

This is what I’ve been thinking.. the black community, underneath it all, want a little love, not so much subsidy.. but love, even with accountability. They realize the democrats very much look down on them, and are open to fair treatment from repubs, if it comes with respect.
