The deceased has been identified as Laksh Mishra, a second-year BTech student and a native of Ranchi in Jharkhand. He was pursuing his studies at a private college in Yelahanka. Senior officer told reporters that the incident occurred around 3 am, when the student reportedly fell from the 9th floor of a hostel building located within the limits of Yelahanka New Town police station. He was rushed to a nearby hospital but was declared dead. The victim’s father, Anjani Kumar Mishra, alleged foul play and demanded a thorough investigation. He stated that he received a call from the college informing him about the fall, and later around 4 am,he was told that his son had succumbed to injuries at the hospital. After reaching Bengaluru and seeing the body, he expressed doubts over the circumstances of the death. “It does not appear that he fell from such a height,” he said. He added that the spot where his son fell had very little blood, which raised suspicion. “If someone falls from the ninth floor, the condition of the body and the amount of blood loss would be significant. There was no reason for my son to take such an extreme step,” he said, alleging that the police were colluding with the college management He further claimed that upon visiting the hostel room, he noticed that the window grill made it difficult for anyone to slip through, raising questions about how the fall occurred. “I suspect foul play. The management is hiding something. I want a proper probe and justice for my son,” he added. The Police have registered a case and are examining all angles, including accidental fall and other possibilities. Further investigation is in progress.

The boy, critically injured, was rushed to a private hospital and is now reported to be in stable condition. CCTV footage shows him repeatedly apologizing 52 times over four minutes inside the principal’s office before rushing out and jumping. The incident occurred after the student recorded a classroom video on his mobile phone, which he uploaded to social media. The school administration discovered the video and called the student’s parents to discuss a violation of school rules. The principal allegedly threatened to suspend him, confiscate his medals, and “end his career,” which reportedly left the boy distressed and fearful of expulsion. The boy’s father, Pritam Katara, was waiting in the school reception unaware of the unfolding situation. He rushed to the spot after hearing the commotion and found his son severely injured. The father expressed anguish over the school’s handling of the incident, emphasizing that his son was a disciplined national-level sports player who would not have attempted such an act under normal circumstances. “I was invited to meet my son. When I reached the school, I found out he had fallen… He has been to nationals twice in skating. I got a call from the school, but then another call came from the school asking me to come straight to the hospital, the student’s father, Pritam Katara, said. SDM Archie Harit confirmed that the student had brought a mobile phone, a violation of school rules, but said the situation escalated unexpectedly. The school stated it had intended to speak with the parents before taking disciplinary action. He had brought his phone. He ran and jumped. His condition is stable. An investigation will be conducted. Mobile phones are not allowed in school even teachers’ phones are confiscated. He is a skater with a very good national-level position,” Harit said. Doctors treating the student reported multiple fractures but no head injury. Recovery is expected to take six to seven months, with multiple surgeries planned. Authorities are reviewing the incident to ensure proper school procedures and child safety measures are followed.

A city-based eye surgeon was booked after his wife, a government doctor, was found dead under suspicious circumstances at her rented residence in Jalandhar on Wednesday. The deceased, Dr Meenakshi, was found hanging in a room of the house. Police have registered a case against her husband, Dr Piyush, an eye surgeon associated with a prominent eye hospital in the city, under Section 108 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for abetment to suicide. Investigations are underway and authorities are awaiting the postmortem report to ascertain the exact cause of death. The case took a serious turn after family members alleged that Meenakshi had been subjected to domestic abuse and mental harassment for several years. They also claimed that she had recently discovered that loans amounting to nearly Rs 2.5 crore had been taken in her name without her knowledge or consent. According to her family, the victim, who was serving as a doctor at a government hospital in Kapurthala, had been living separately from her husband since July 2025 due to marital disputes. Her parents alleged that she was planning to seek a divorce and had recently begun exploring the purchase of a separate house. The matter allegedly came to light when she approached a bank regarding a housing loan and learned that liabilities worth approximately Rs 2.5 crore were already linked to her name. Family members claimed that her signatures did not appear on the relevant loan documents and that subsequent checks of her CIBIL records revealed about the huge loan. Her father, Pramod Kumar, alleged that the discovery of the loans caused immense mental distress to his daughter. He further claimed that the loans included financing linked to vehicles and business-related activities. The family has also accused Piyush of maintaining an extra-marital relationship with a nurse employed at the same hospital. According to the complainants, Meenakshi became suspicious and later examined CCTV footage from the hospital, which they claim supported her suspicions. The family said the footage has been handed over to the police as part of the investigation. Her parents further alleged that she had been subjected to physical assault and harassment. They claimed there had been previous incidents of violence and that Piyush would occasionally contact them after altercations, expressing regret over his behaviour. Parents also claimed that last year he tried to kill her by strangling. “We are being told it is a suicide, but we do not know whether it was suicide or something else. The postmortem examination will reveal the truth,” she said. The family has demanded the immediate arrest of Piyush and a thorough investigation into the circumstances leading to Meenakshi’s death, including the alleged financial transactions and claims of harassment. The media persons tried contacting Piyush, but no response was made till the filing of this report.
