A 10-year-old boy in St. Louis has been charged with 1st-degree murder after shooting & killing a 7-month-old infant, Kiyomi Parker. The boy found a loaded, unsecured gun hidden under a mattress. The baby’s father, 19-year-old Ca'Marion Pawnell, also faces 2nd-degree murder & child endangerment charges. Due to Missouri law, the 10-year-old cannot be tried as an adult (minimum age is 12). He is reportedly the youngest person in state history to face a 1st-degree murder charge.

Timothy Hudson had initially been charged as a juvenile and was released pending trial. But after he was charged in April as an adult with first-degree murder and aggravated sexual abuse, a judge ruled he was no longer subject to rules regarding juvenile detention.
