We’re coming full circle and rediscovering sails?

In the 1980's, there was the cargo ship 'Shin Aitoku Maru' from Japan🇯🇵, which had solid cantilever sails, which were angled by computer for 'lift' independent of wind direction, and could be folded with a high headwind. Old news, in short.

If you attach 6 paragliders, you can even start the voyage with half full tanks and by the time you arrive at the destination, the fuel tanks will be full!

If it would really save 20% it would have been on every ship. Now tell me again why there isn't a paraglider on every ship ?

No. If there was a 20% reduction in fuel consumption then I assure you.. every shipping company/agency would have ordered them on day one. This is also quite a few years old now as well.. so, obviously not as good as they'd like you to think.

Does that dude have to be in the air for the entire trip? What if he needs to go to the bathroom?! 🤣

Has anyone ever thought about attaching sails to the ships and letting the wind power them?
