A man who was aboard a bus that crashed along the N1 highway in Musina said the bus driver fell asleep and lost control of the vehicle. A man who identified himself as the assistant driver claims the man behind the wheel fell asleep and lost control of the bus. “The driver was sleeping, and a police officer woke him up. He told the driver to go to Musina to register and take the fingerprints of the passengers. When the driver started the bus, he was already exhausted and failed to control the bus.”

Bus driver dies from gunshot wounds after robbery on Buffelsdraai Road, KZN A bus driver from Verulam, KZN, has died in hospital after being shot during a robbery on Buffelsdraai Road this morning. Four suspects, posing as passengers, shot the driver in the arm and abdomen while the bus was in motion. The bus crashed into vegetation, and the suspects stole cash and valuables from around 20 passengers before fleeing on foot. The critically injured driver was rushed to the hospital but succumbed to his injuries. Authorities has launched a search for the suspects, who are still at large.

A bus travelling from Accra to Nkwawkaw was sprayed with bullets at Akyem Enyiresi at about 11 p.m. yesterday while attempting to flee from armed robbers. According to the driver of another bus, the robbers stopped them and demanded their phones, which they handed over. However, the driver of the bullet-riddled bus was unaware of what was happening and, upon arriving at the scene, reversed after encountering the robbery. The robbers then opened fire on the bus, but the driver managed to escape the scene, with no fatalities reported.

But we had never thought that this could happen to our vehicle. We used to hear of things like this in Kashmir but this area was safe. We never thought that this could happen to us. As soon as the bus left in the morning, we received a call at 5 o'clock that there had been firing on our vehicle...When we did a little investigation, we came to know that it was an attack by militants...Passengers told us that the militant got into the bus and told the driver to make the passengers deboard the bus. Driver sensed that the man was a militant. He refused to make the passengers deboard, he sped up the bus. As soon as he sped up the bus, the militant fired a bullet. The bus lost balance but the driver kept driving. When the driver didn't stop, he (militant) shot him in the head and killed him...Then the conductor took hold of the steering. Thinking it might be a bus stop with passengers about to disembark, he stayed still. Students on a Calaveras Unified school bus were stuck for about an hour after rowdy kids forced the bus driver to stop and call law enforcement. A 12-year-old student on the bus said, "Everybody was screaming and stuff because they were excited to get off the bus.” During the screaming, another student crawled out of the window, causing the driver to stop the bus and say, “Sit down, roll up the windows,” as they waited for law enforcement. Turns out the driver of the bus which killed 23 young students, was asked to allow the students change the bus after mechanics warned him about the condition of the bus. According one of the mechanic he says, bus had a mechanical issue. They worked on it but still bus wasn't in full condition so they advised the driver to pass on the students to another bus but he refused. Bus driver's greedy caused the accident. If he survived that guy should be In prison for negligence.

Tihron Harrison started punching the bus driver after the driver refused to let him off at a random intersection. As the men were fighting, the bus continued down the road and eventually crashed into a building. Harrison tried fleeing the scene but was caught by police and arrested. Thankfully, the driver was fine besides minor injuries including bumps and bruises.

The driver of the Climax Coaches bus involved in the road accident that claimed the life of former Lugari MP Cyrus Jirongo has been identified as Tirus Kamau Githinji, a long-serving driver with Climax Coaches who has worked for the company for about eight years. According to his account, the crash occurred early on December 13, 2025, around 3:00 a.m. on the Nairobi–Nakuru Highway at Karai, Naivasha. He was driving a bus carrying 65 passengers from Nairobi to Busia when a vehicle driven by Hon. Cyrus Jirongo entered the highway from a petrol station and collided head-on with his bus after failing to give way. Kamau said he tried to avoid the collision but believed swerving could have caused his bus to overturn and endanger all aboard, so he braked and absorbed the impact. He only learned that the other driver was Cyrus Jirongo after police arrived at the scene. He gave his side of the story and apologised. May Hon. Jirongo rest in peace.
