A 50-day SMA (Simple Moving Average) is a technical analysis indicator that calculates the average closing price of an asset over the past 50 trading days and plots it on the chart. Each new day, the oldest price drops off, and the newest price is added—so it "moves" daily.

Moving averages are not support. They are math. Scot1and, a trader and educator who builds his entire framework around price and auction activity, breaks down why this distinction is critical. A moving average has no participants behind it. A price congestion zone does — real volume, real transactions, real memory baked into the chart. When those two things coincide and the moving average holds, traders credit the indicator when they should credit the zone. When they diverge, traders get hurt holding a level that was never real to begin with. Real support is where the market has already done business. That is the only line worth watching.

One thing you will find is the best breakouts pretty much all the great breakouts happen from where when the price is at the 10 or the 20 moving average. That’s one of the first things you will notice. I bought SPCE two days ago but you know I shouldn’t have done that. Sometimes FOMO gets the best of me. But now the moving averages are starting to catch up and look how clean of a move it is. Had one leg higher and now it’s digesting with higher lows. Compare it to IDEX - it’s hard to explain, like you need to do the work and you will see it for yourself. You will learn how to identify a good setup. But the key is the 10 day and and or the 20-day needs to catch up the price. MSTR where did I buy it? I bought it here when it flagged showed relative strength and the moving averages caught up to price.”

What this graph shows are the local daily slopes, color-coded: green marks days when the slope is steeper and more positive than the global power law, while red marks days when it is steeper in the negative direction. The blue vector represents the cumulative average of the local vectors up to that point. As more data accumulates, this average becomes increasingly parallel to the overall power law trend. In other words, the local slopes push the price up and down on short timescales, but collectively their average motion guides the price along the underlying power law trajectory.

The administration's tariffs have been terrible for farmers. They added so much uncertainty and cost. One year ago the average price for diesel in my state was $3.40. Today, the average is $5.13.
