Our latest ARCOS TCA hot-fire campaign at the German Aerospace Center DLR - English marks a major milestone in the development of our in-house methalox thrust chamber assembly. The campaign demonstrated stable and repeatable operation across a wide operating envelope (60–105% thrust and multiple mixture ratios), validating a deeply throttleable core thrust module to be replicated across ARCOS’ aerospike architecture. Reliable ignition and shutdown, stable chamber pressure behaviour, and no critical structural damage were observed after testing. A key step forward towards full ARCOS aerospike engine assembly — and for Europe’s propulsion capabilities. This unmanned drone, roughly F-16 sized and packing a Pratt & Whitney F100 engine, is the biggest and heaviest in Hermeus lineup yet. It just got its Special Airworthiness Certificate (Experimental Category), clearing the path for high-speed flight tests out of Spaceport America in New Mexico. Hermeus is all about rapid iteration... learn from one flight, build the next version smarter and faster.
