Witnesses say the officer fired back in self defense and hit the suspect. Both men were taken to the hospital and are expected to survive. Many details are still unclear and Bellevue PD has not released the names of the people involved. But the officer called for backup and is heard on the 911 scanner saying, "I'm hit, I'm bleeding from the head, start EMS now." Initial reports indicated the officer may have been shot. On Sunday April 12, authorities say Plymouth resident Robert Reed was barbecuing food on a grassy area adjacent to PorchLight. This behavior is not allowed on the property. It's actually owned by Puget Sound Energy and there was concern fire from the BBQ could set something off. Shelter workers say Reed went nuts when he was told to shut it down. A massive police response ensued. More taxpayer dollars wasted on another public safety call to this location. This is "permanent supportive housing" in action.
