In surat too , I’ve seen a bridge funnily ends at some canal , they have put big blocks so nobody goes straight swimming.

It is sad that a big news agency like Ahmedabad mirror will indulge in such buffoonery in the name of journalism. Here’s a Google map of the location the red colour is the bridge and the blue colour indicates existing roads. It is very common that last mile road widening is a difficult task that takes time, but to say a bridge ends in a wall is mischief!!!

I looked up this stuck bridge project, and it seems the issue here is land acquisition. As seen in the map below, if the civic body undertaking this project doesn't acquire the land right in front of the alignment, the road would need to have a sharp right or left turn. If a straight road is needed, it will almost certainly require the bungalow/private property right in front of it to be acquired and demolished. And that looks like a posh piece of land, probably owned by a millionaire. Pretty sure the owners won't go without a fight.
