As a result, today China’s energy dependency on foreign supply is at maximum 15%. As a result, China can cope with this crisis. So far, it’s okay. Unlike other countries in Asia or in Europe. 52% of energy comes from coal, but it’s already processed green coal, with new technologies. And 20% from renewable energies from green electricity and power, and then the rest from traditional oil and gas. Of this part around 70% is from foreign sources. Yet we have developed different ways of oil supply. Northern line from Russia, western line from Central Asia and the southern line from Myanmar, et cetera. So now the supply diversified. We also have this, very importantly, railway connection between China and Iran. There was a time when India exported copper to the world. Today, despite rising demand from EVs, renewable energy and modern infrastructure, we are forced to import it. That should concern every Indian. The proposed Sterlite Green Copper project in Thoothukudi offers a practical path forward cleaner technology, lower carbon emissions, recycled copper, stronger environmental safeguards and thousands of jobs. India cannot aim for self-reliance while shutting down critical industries and depending on imports for strategic metals. Requesting TVK Vijay, CMOTamilNadu to seriously reconsider reopening the Sterlite Green Copper plant in Thoothukudi. Sustainable growth, employment and national interest must go hand in hand.

The Green Party is shamelessly pursuing its authoritarian agenda. Zack Polanski, the leader of the Green Party, has demanded that it’s time we “sorted out the press” and advocated greater state regulation to stop what he calls “misinformation”. This is coming from the same man who once claimed that he could enlarge women’s breasts through hypnosis and who believes that women can have penises. A free press is a central pillar of our democracy and a key means of holding those in power to account. It is also a vital mechanism for testing ideas — even unpopular and contentious ones. This authoritarianism is not just coming from the top of the party, but from the grassroots too. An emergency motion in favour of state regulation of the press has been endorsed by 89 members ahead of the party conference in the autumn. On top of that, a Green Party canvasser reported journalist Jonathan Sacerdoti to the police, accusing him of harassment because he dared to challenge their views when THEY knocked on his door. Nor can we forget that Zack Polanski thought it was entirely appropriate for the Met Police to arrest Graham Linehan over three gender-critical posts on X. This push for censorship should concern us all — not least Green Party members, who may well come to regret calling for greater government control of the press should Reform UK win the next election.
