This is the Blue Ridge Parkway. Death on one side. Explosion of color and life on the other. Feel like this perfectly encapsulates what Asheville is experiencing right now.

🚨Heartbreaking first look at the Blue Ridge Parkway from the air. This is normally PEAK leaf-viewing season in the Fall and the Parkway is unrecognizable. Zero leaves. Up to 80% tree loss in some areas. Mudslides. Roads washed out. Cannot believe it.

My heart. 💔Western NC. 😭 Home to Asheville, App State, Blue Ridge Parkway, Appalachian Mountains. Highways gone. Small towns gone. People stranded. Please donate to Red Cross!! 🙏

I finally made it to the Blue Ridge Parkway in #WNC for the first time this winter. I barely recognize it... there are more trees laying on the ground than there are standing up. I've honestly never seen anything like this.
