At 100 years old, WWII veteran Bernie Smoot still drives his convertible Ford Mustang to play golf five days a week, shoots in the low 80s and shares wisdom from 74 years in the game: “You live to play golf. But to reach my age, you play golf to live.” To celebrate Bernie — who landed at Omaha Beach just months after graduating high school — his PGA Coach and friend Jeff Maynor organized a tournament in his honor at the University of Maryland Golf Course, where Bernie plays five days a week. Maynor, the course’s PGA Director of Golf, has run a PGA HOPE program there for Veterans since 2019, which Bernie loves to support. The tournament for Bernie was a chance for those Veterans to thank him and celebrate his love for the game.

Bryson DeChambeau hosted a clinic today at the International Series India for hundreds of Indian golf fans of all ages. He said about his motivation to travel to the country and play at DLF Golf and Country Club this week: “The ability for golf as really a young sport, but changing from an older sport into a young sport to showcase what golf can mean for the future generations of India. That's always inspired me. My mission in the game of golf is to first off, inspire, entertain, and a subtle part of it is educate as well. “Educate, entertain, inspire is my main three principles of why I play the game of golf. “I think this is an amazing opportunity for all of golf to come together and see what India can truly produce for the world. And it's a growing economy, it's a growing population that needs golf.
